Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

I've passed this along to the team and we'll take a look into it.  If we need anything else, we'll let you know.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Ok, I just installed 1.0.2.95 on my device and things are a little better but still not right.

When I open settings/storage on my device I find 3 types of storage listed:

   Application Storage: available 2.14GB

Internal Storage: total 8.00GB, available 7.28GB

SD Card: Total 29.71GB, available 26.36GB

When I open Norton I see:

Internal Storage: Total 3.01GB, Available 2.14GB

SD Card: Total 8.00GB, Available 7.28GB

It now looks like you are reporting the phone's Application storage as Internal Storage and the phone's Internal storage as the SD card. and not reporting the phone's SD card at all.

Thanks for the update.  The team hadn't had a chance to work your issue into this release yet, but I'll let them know of the changes as that should help with the investigation.

Could you check with build 98?  The team would like to check with the latest build to see if what you're seeing is continuing.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Hi Erik,

no there was no change in the storage reported on my Droid Razr Maxx with version 98, still showing 3.01 GB internal and 8.00 GB SD card.

I have noticed one difference however. After I loaded build 98 both mobile and wifi data useage graphs showed exactly 70%. I have both limits set artificialy high as I have a grandfathered unlimited data account with Verizon so it was fairly obvious when my data usage jumped from 0.9 GB to 10 GB in one day. Verizon still reports my data usage at 777 MB.

I changed the data limit to see if the graph stayed at 70% and it did not, it retained the 10 GB data usage value.

I then cleared the data for the app and after restoring my account ptofile information I see that you are correctly reporting my phone minutes used and SMS message count since my billing start day however it now shows only 10 MB for data usage.

I just watched The Guild season 4 episode 12 on Hulu and you report my data usage now as 95 MB (an increase of 85 MB) however Verizon now shows my data usage at 824 MB (an increase of only 48 MB).

If you have any questions please let me know

Mike.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Thanks for confirming that it's still an issue.  I'll let the team know.

The percentage issue you reported is very strange.  If you're able to reproduce that one, we would need to gather logs with CatLog to dig in further.  Otherwise it'll be very difficult to investigate.

For the 10 MB of data usage, do you typically use 4G or 3G?

As to your usage.  When you watched the episode of the Guild (great show by the way), was it over 3G or 4G LTE?  I assume that since you mention Verizon that this was not done over Wifi.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Hi Eric,

Sorry for the delay but I was gathering data. I loaded the 3G Watchdog app on my phone to get an independent view of the data usage. After a couple of weeks I find that 3G Watchdog and Verizon report approximately the same usage of 1.1 GB in the last two weeks. NMU however reports 16.1 GB of data usage during the same period. These are approximate numbers as all three monitors started at 0 on different days. My billing period starts on the 29th so all 3 will reset on that date and going forward I can give you more accurate numbers. However the fact remains that in the last two weeks NMU has reported 15 times the data usage of either of my other two monitors.

I admit there was another reason for my delay in responding. If Verizon had passed the recent soak test for ICS on the RAZR MAXX we all would have had to start over looking at NMU running under ICS. However now it looks like Verizon is backing off of ICS and moving ahead with an update to GB 6.12.181 in the near future and ICS later this year (hopefully) when they work the bugs out.

In response to your questions above, I typically use 4GLTE

It'll definitely help when everything is synchronized.  Could you provide a screenshot of your usage page showing the high data usage?  Not crucial, but should help.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Just a note to let you know Erik that you have another customer with a Razr (Maxx in my case).  The storage figures are still looking odd but I have yet to come to terms with the figures given by the Razr itself.  It has 16 GB of Internal storage according to the adds and I have read (but not in Motorola data) that his has 1024 MB RAM.  However the device seems to report 8 GB of Internal storage and 3.6 GB of Available application space.  It is as if the 16 GB has been partitioned in some odd way and some seems to have gone missing.  Not surprised that NMU has had some trouble with it.

If the team need any more data let me know and I will try to help.

Re: Internal Storage and SD card reporting incorrect values on Droid Razr Maxx

Mike,

I know you've been wanting one of those for a while now.  To clarify, are you saying that in Settings you're seeing that odd data as well as in NMU?
