I'd like to find out how to disable the battery notification (or at least the audible alert) on my NMS android phone. I can't find that option, and it's so disturbing. Seems to alert me at inappropriate times to the point that I'm considering removing the app. This morning, it woke me up at 4:00 am on my day off -- just to tell me I had 30% remaining -- aargh!!  HELP PLS..

Sorry you are still having this problem.  I know that DistEd2 speculated that the alert might have been NMU and I had wondered that myself.  It does have setting to move from Normal to Power saving mode in the latest version but I am still not aware of it having a low battery alarm anywhere.  

There are a number of apps on the Android Market that do have this function and I had wondered if you had one of those installed but your comment about an Icon showing when the alarm came up is puzzling.  Can you say where the icon was?  Was it on the actual alert display?  Was there an alert display or was it just an audible alarm?  If there was just an icon showing on the notification bar could we have a precise description and if you pull down the bar can you get any extra information.

Does the alert only go off in the small hours of the morning or does it happen at other times?

A screen shot or description would probably help greatly if you could provide one.

Oh and can you tell us the version of NMU that you have on your device?

The verson of NMU I have on my android phone is 1.0.2.75. The alert was audible. The audible alert sounds, and an icon notification appears on the upper line of my screen on the Samsung Galaxy phone, followed by a message saying, "30% Power Remaining."

It happens all too frequently.. but never so bothersome as during the wee hours of the night...

I hate to have to choose between turning my phone off in the middle of the night (my mother is in poor health and I need to hear calls), and disabling Norton (risking internet security) on my phone. That's why I was hoping someone in the Norton community had solved this problem and could help with a win-win solution.

I remain puzzled but have some suggestion.  

I think we can be fairly sure that the issue does not involve NMS, which as far as I am aware has no battery monitoring or alarm.  So you do not need to turn it off and that should be a worry removed.

NMU (you have the latest version of which I am aware) has battery monitoring and an ability to modify the phone dependent on battery level but no alarm of which I am aware.  However if you do not find this essential to the daily use of your phone why not try uninstalling it for 24 hrs.  It is free and can be downloaded again at any time from the Android Market.  If this stops the alarm then we have more to work on.  If the alarm continues then we know the culprit lies elsewhere.

Does that make sense?  If you do choose to uninstall NMU then please keep us informed.

Hello,all!

I've the same problem as Lattitude. An alarm goes off when battery is at 30 percent. And I get a Norton-symbol in the notification-area, top-screen on my HTC Wildfire S.

Been looking & experimenting to change settings and such with no results. This unwanted "service" is quite annoying and also overrides my own phone's settings (my phone is supposed to give an alert at 15 % battery capacity).

Hmmm... time to uninstall? Used to Norton's excellent products, but this doesn't quite fulfill my expectations. Any plans to delve deeper into this oversight/problem?

Currently the alert cannot be disabled, but we will be making a change in the next release around this.

Oh, thank you much Erik.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times this past week to attempt to fix the issue. I love Norton products and just hate to go online without virus protection.  A disable battery alert toggle will be a welcome change. Much appreciated.

I just received an update to NMU that now includes options both to set and to disable the battery alert.

It's under the master settings screen, from the homescreen of the app, not under the battery settings screen that you have to dig for. Down toward the bottom, you'll find a "Battery Alert" section, with a box you can uncheck to disable the alert altogether, and a customizable "Alert Level" setting that you can  select in 10% increments from the old 30% to a maximum of 60% (the default level is 40%).
