NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

Hi

Just a bit of feedback about NMU Beta.

It is about  the information i am given when looking at Device Info

on my Motorola Xoom.

Internal storage will show the total of 28.2 GB. And SD card also

shows 28.2 GB.

There is no indication of the storage space avaiability of my micro

SD card of 16GB which is installed.

If i go to settings in the Xoom and navigate into storage the memory

available is broken up into Internal Storage and SD Card both showing

the correct amounts of space.

The same is said for my Galaxy S2 mobile the storage given in the

Device section of NMU Beta does not show my Micro SD storage,

just the internal storage of the device.

Is this something that is in development to be resolved in future releases

of NMU Beta.??

Also  i have found a problem on the Xoom tablet in that i cannot enter the

settings menu from the drop down menu on the main start up screen.

Everytime i press settings NMU Beta will close and i am taken to my App list,

not sure if this has been noted before or not.

Which means i cannot change widget settings or battery warning info etc.

But if i go to the widgets menu NMU Beta does provide 2 widgets that seem to

work just fine.

I have uninsatlled and reinstalled a few times with no change.

Regarding the menu settings is this because NMU Beta may not be fully

compatible with tablets yet.???

So that  is my feedback on NMU Beta after some testing today.

Cheers. :smileyhappy:

Re: NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

Both Xoom issues are curently being worked on.  For the Galaxy S2 issue, could you provide the following information:

baseband version

kernel version

firmware version

How much internal memory do you have

Size of micro SD card

Once you give that I'll pass this along to check with the team.

Re: NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

Hi Erik

thanks for the info about the Xoom.

As for the info requested about the Galaxy S 2-

SC20111117-073251.jpeg

And the storage in the Samsung device is broken up into 3 catergories being-

SD Card- 7.39 GB  Total Space (8 GB Sandisk Micro SD)

USB Storage- 11.50 GB  Total Space

Device Memory- 1.68 GB  Available Space

Hope those details can assist the Symantec Norton team. :smileyhappy:

Cheers.

Re: NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

[ Edited ]

Hi

just some feedback on the latest update with NMU Beta version1.0.2.81

Good news the issue with acces to the apps settings from the drop down

menu on the home screen of NMU  is now resolved on the Motorola Xoom

3G/WiFi.:smileyhappy:

I now have the ability to change the settings to disable warnings and  to

customise widgets etc. So Kudos for the Norton Team on that one.:smileyhappy:

And the Samsung Galaxy S2 issue where you select device info and then

check the storage of the device still has a few issues.

.

What i find  is the storage data shown in the Device section of the NMU

shows both of my internal storage stats and data but still no actual

MicroSD external storage size stats or data.

.

SGS2 has a 2 different internal storage sections, one is basically where you

store apps and associated data and that is called Device Memory and that

consists of 1.68 GB available space.1.97 GB total.

The second is what they call the USB storage for storing anything you want

internally on the SGS2 and that consists of 11.50 GB

So all up the NMU is working fine except it still cannot display the actual Mcro SD

storage size and  data instead putting in it's place in the SD card section the stats

for the internal USB storage data and it's stats of the SGS2.

The micro SD card used has a storage size 7.39 GB.

i may have gone over some of this previously but i just wanted to update with more info.:)

Just thought i would put in a screen shot of the Device Storage section-

SC20111124-164446.jpeg

Otherwise all the improvements to the NMU Beta app are great full Kudos all

round to the Norton Team and what i fully understand  must be a hard job to

develop a app that can work on so many different Android manufatured Devices.

Keep up the good work in developing a very useful Android Application.  :)

Cheers.:smileyhappy:

PS Had to edit to add this from previous feedback post

This is still the same on the Xoom and  has not changed with update.

Good bit of speedy feedback smithy.

The problem with the recording of SD memory incorrectly on your Galaxy S2 seems to match that seen by LtRav3nw00d on his droid x2 in another thread.

Smithy,

Unfortunately the sgs2 and xoom storage issues didn't make it into this update. The team is aware of both, but just didn't get to it.

Re: NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

Hi

Updated NMU Beta today to the newest Version 1.0.2.86.

It appears to have resolved the Device Storage information issues with Motorola Xoom.:smileyhappy:

It now lists Internal Storage as 28.32 GB and SD card as 14.83 which is all correct by checking the

details against the system settings storage information.:-)

The Galaxy S2 compatibility with NMU Device Storage Info is still not showing all  3 of the differrent

storage locations on the device. Perhaps the compatibility will be resolved in a future update. :-)

Something else is with the Xoom Tablet there is no choice to use a Undefined Mode with Battery

Profile only Normal or Power Saver, where as with Galaxy S2 i can use NMU Beta in a Undefined

Battery Profile mode.

Is there any reason why there would be a difference with the two devices, perhaps beacause one

is a phone and the other a tablet. ?

And if the Xoom is using Normal Battery Profile settings by default they do not match the settings that will

be put in place if i use the Normal Battery Profile Settings on my Galaxy S2.

Xoom with Normal Battery Profile on and the settings that it has configured-

Turn on Wifi- WiFi is off and box unchecked.

Turn off Mobile Data- Is still on and box checked.

Turn off Bluetooth- Ok Bluetooth is off.

Turn off Ringer Vibrate- Ok off and box unchecked.

Turn off Auto-Sync- Is still on with box checked

Set Screen Timeout to 30 seconds- Still my custom setting of 10 minutes..

Set Media Volume to 33%- Still my custom settings of about 50%

It would appear that there is some issue with the Battery Profile and Mode settings with the Xoom Tablet.

I uninstalled NMU Beta and reinstalled and it is exactly the same and cannot configure the settings

to show i am using a Undefined Mode the Normal Tab is yellow and will not grey out wih custom settings.

I hope this info makes sense to assist the Norton Team to look into this issue. :-)

Cheers:smileyhappy:

Re: NMU Beta Feedback- Tablet and Mobile devices.

For the gs2 issue I'm not sure. It may be because its a phone, but will have to check with the team. What version of android, kernel, and build is currently on your xoom so the team can take a look at the battery profile issue.
