Norton Utilities Reports Incorrect Phone Minutes and Mobile Data Usage

Hi,

My calls for this billing month total 6 min and 26 seconds and is reported by Norton as 12 minutes.  Mobile data for the days prior to the installation of the software has not been counted at all.

Mobile phone is a Sony Experia S.

Settings in app are :

Storage/Data - Current month's mobile data usage

Current Phone Phone Minutes - Outgoing Minutes

Billing date is set correctly

A couple questions to help clarify things.  What day of the month does your billing cycle start?  When did you install NMU?  Did you make any calls that your carrier treated as free or does the 6 minutes and 26 seconds account for all calls made?

For the settings could you clarify your settings more?

Re: Norton Utilities Reports Incorrect Phone Minutes and Mobile Data Usage

To clarify, your incoming calls are free.  Your total outbound calls are 6 minutes and 26 seconds, but the progress bar shows 12 minutes.  Correct?  Do you know if your carrier shows a total of 12 minutes outbound and incoming as well or are you only able to see the number of outbound minutes?  Right now, the progress bar will display incoming and outgoing minutes even if incoming are free.  The Alert will trigger off of the outbound only in that instance.  I'm basing this off of my assumpition of what you're seeing of course.  If you see anything that I'm not taking into account please let me know.

Re: Norton Utilities Reports Incorrect Phone Minutes and Mobile Data Usage

I cannot see the duration of my incoming calls on my account with O2.  Currently outgoing is 8:59.  Norton Utilities 21 minutes ( incoming 110 minutes ).  Note that my calls are not rounded to nearest minute.

And what about the mobile data used prior to the installation of the app not being included ?

Re: Norton Utilities Reports Incorrect Phone Minutes and Mobile Data Usage

Could you provide your device information?  Go to Settings > About Phone.  We need the version of Android, kernel, build, etc

I'll need to have the team dig into why it would be overcounting minutes.

As to mobile data, I believe that's expected, but I need to check with the team.  On your device, phone calls and SMS are usually tracked by call (and time) in the device logs.  I need to confirm about Data, but I believe it is not tracked the same way.  Thereby requiring that we be installed in order to log the data usage.

Re: Norton Utilities Reports Incorrect Phone Minutes and Mobile Data Usage

I did confirm with the team that getting the 3G data usage from before the app was installed is not possible.  How the device stores the information doesn't allow for us to get any information on the data connection usage from before the App was installed.  On some versions of Android (4.0 for example) some data usage is stored since last reboot/charge, but that is going to be very limited in what we can draw from.

Build 104 was just posted which may address your issue.  Could you check with this build?
