Backed up file names changed to gibberish

I successfully backed up several types of data from an old PC needing to move selected files to a new PC. Alas, the old file names were renamed in such a way that it's impossible to know what they are. What was Norton thinking when they did this, and is there a way to work around it. Thank-you.

Hello Elgroth

 

Norton Online Backup does not rename your files. It makes a copy of them technically as they were on your system. Can you provide a specific example of what you're seeing?
