Wondering the same thing. I'm also finding the entire online backup dialogues take forever to open to even view the log.
Can you see the backup in action or do I have to assume it has run or is running?

The easiest way to check is take a look at what is available for restore. Take a look at the below links. The first one tells you how to restore and the second covers file selection. Basically you can scan what is available for restore which will tell you what has been backed up. You don't have to actually initiate the restore. Just cancel out of the screen without actually starting a restore request when you're done or close the browser window.
