Hello,
I've bought the NTS and in general this software is ok.
However an important feature for me is the AntiTheft module.
This one however has few major flaws:
1) It mustn't spam any information after being installed -- especially that it is disabled with no internet connection!!! This product should be completely silent and transparent once set-up so the potential thief will have no idea of its exitstence
2) NTS should be lockable using a simple Code/PIN mechanism so that no one could mess with the settings once setup.
3) NTS and AntiTheft should be protected from uninstallation (I've met such features in freeware security software fr android) They should have only an option to uninstall themselves from within the application (again after providing the security pin/code)
Software developed by professionals like Symantec should really have those things.
Best regards and looking forward to an update with those fixes,
Nicolas

Item 1 is actually a problem we would like to look into. What make and model of device do you have? What version of Android?
Settings protection is a nice idea. I'll send that along to see what the team thinks.
For Item 3, we are looking into uninstall protection. I would expect to see it in a future release.

Hello,
sorry for not introducing myself, was typing from the device and this forum is highly unoptimized for mobile browsers ;)
My device: Asus TF201 aka Transformer Prime @3.2.1 atm, but will be providing feedback with ICS from next week hopefully.
Should You have any builds to test I will be happy to help.

What mobile browser are you using? When I open in the default browser and a couple others I see the forum mobile optimized. I'll check with someone to see what we would need to investigate the first item.

I need to apologize for the mobile optimization mess. I have used the default browser with... desktop agent.
With tablet agent everything is fine. However the team could look into compatibility with Tapatalk ;)
Best regards,
Nicolas

I can ask, but I find it unlikely that they will check on tapatalk compatibility. The Norton Forum is powered by Lithium and is mobile optimized, when your browser isn't set to emulate a desktop of course. ![]()
To the other questions, do you have a task killer installed? Are there any particular actions that are done on your device around the time that you see the disabled message? You noted something about a lack of internet connection, but could you clarify?

No I don't use task killers. The AntiTheft disabled notification appears sometimes when I got my Wi-Fi disconnected or temporally loosing connection. I will pay more attention to what is happening on the device next time this notification appears.
However I can see that this device is keeping lots of applications suspended in background, so sometimes the android task manager might attack the AntiTheft process itself.
The interesting part is that even when this notification appears and I hit it, I end up in the AntiTheft application with everything green and operational ;)

Norton Anti-Theft reports itself as not being operational when it does not have internet access. This is because it needs internet access to work. The software on the device is working (for it to be able to give a report) it is just warning you that it cannot speak to the server. Well that it what I think is/should happen.

Iimho by informing that it doesn't work properly it prevents the thief from enabling internet access on the device due to possible awaiting remote lock and makes him wipe the device first so that AntiTheft lock becomes useless.

Quick question. Do you have notifications enabled? You can check this by opening NTS > Tap the Gear icon > Tap on Settings > uncheck "Ongoing Notifications". Then test again to see if you see that prompt or not. I just need to see if this is a case of "noisy" notifications or not.
