Why does Allen's NIS2013 browser toolbar plugins work with these URLs while ours do not?
HI Avjohnnie,
If you notice my signature line I do indeed still have NIS 2012 which is why this works for me.
However it was not known this affected only NIS 2013 until Senthil's post here.
Best wishes.

I guess you are using NIS 19.8.0.14, since we don't have Identitysafe home feature in NIS 2012, you and few others are able to navigate to that particular url.
We will have problem only when we have Identitysafe home feature in the product (NIS/N360).
Hope this helps
Thanks,
Senthil
Seems simple enough - Remove it! For those of use who choose not to use an online idenity safe the button is completely useless. Clicking the "Little House" button puts us here...
And the site is persistant (meaning difficult to navigate away from) most likely due to your forced redirection "feature". At the very least, if the user elects to stay with their local vault, disable the darn button.

Hi Folks,
In the meantime...until this gets sorted out......
If you want a good, secure password generator try PC Tools at the following link. Note that it is secured through HTTPS as well. And also be aware that Symantec acquired PC Tools in 2008.

The PC Tools secure password generator is at:
https://secure.pctools.com/guides/password/
I have been using this to generate all of my passwords for the last couple of years.
Best wishes.

I must say that I am very happy to see that more and more users are starting to truly understand the need for more secure passwords!! ![]()
I will share a story with you that will hopefully impart the need for truly secure passwords even more..
A couple of years back, actually probably closer to a year and a half ago I got hit with only the second piece of malware that has ever found its way on to my computer in well over 20 years! I am a software engineer and understand all too well how to be safe on the Internet yet I was still hit.. And here is how it happened...
I was attempting to sell a home and move to a different area and as such I needed to be able to access my home computer from work to be able to deal with time critical documents from my realtor. So I enabled remote desktop and (unlike my normally careful self) I failed to do enough research to realize that Microsoft actually defaults remote desktop to use a non-secure (unencrypted) connection!! So I blindly enabled remote desktop and set up port forwarding on my router so I could get to my home computer from work. Naturally this worked GREAT except for one major drawback!!
At that time my passwords were not properly secured (too easy to hack!) and within about 3 days I was infiltrated by an Internet BOT that breached my system! To make matters worse this particular infection also infected my BIOS such that a system restore with an image backup caused me to get "re-infected" in virtually no time at all!!
What I learned from that is that no matter how safe one is, it is always possible to get infected and the more you can do to mitigate that risk to the greatest extent possible (within reason), the better!
Now that does not mean you need to be constantly paranoid about the possibility of being "breached" but it DOES mean that things like passwords needs to be as secure as possible!
After this nightmare I changed all my passwords as one would expect but also realized that I needed MUCH more secure passwords and that is when I started using the PC Tools password generator.
I also switched to a 3rd party remote desktop application... And therein lies another interesting story! After installing this remote desktop server on my PC and setting up port forwarding in my router it took less than 45 minutes before an Internet BOT attempted to BREACH my system again!!!!! There ARE Internet BOTS out there that do routine and highly frequent PORT SCANS for known ports in an attempt to breach your computer! Once I changed this to a NON DEFAULT port, not only has my system never been breached again but also not even an ATTEMPT to access my system via that remote desktop server application! The BOTS simply do not scan for anything but the known ports in a case like this! As a test I went back to the DEFAULT port at least 6 more times off and on over a period of a few weeks, and in each and every case a BOT attempted to breach my system in LESS than ONE hour!
One could ask, well what do you do if ID Safe goes belly up....Well there is a way to cover that also! I have a Master Password list kept inside a highly encrypted VAULT on my computer. The password to that VAULT is also a randomly generated password which I cannot possibly remember! How do I get that password? I keep that one password on a USB flash drive which is kept physically secure.
Sorry to ramble but I did want to mention for those who may not realize it that passwords are incredibly important - passwords are basically your first line of defense!
All the best,
Allen

Hi avjohnnie,
Please realize that when there are numerous issues being tracked, some may have a correction found quickly, others may take longer to have the correction found, and still others may take extensive re-writes etc.
Also the severity/impact of the issue is taken into consideration.
The issues and their patches are priortized, and if some can be rolled into one patch they will be. Also if a correction is found - but is caused by another issue (which must be corrected first), then that correction may be delayed until the other (causing) issue is solved.
It is not just as simple as issuing a patch for each and every issue that is tracked.
I hope I explained that clearly enough.

Funny thing is, it wouldn't be an issue if YOUguys hadn't offered up this great password generating tool, which by the way doesn't work.
