I have followed Tony Wiess' note on this with no luck. I have run live update and have got 2012 19.7.1.5 of NIS installed. Firefox has Norton Toolbar 2012.7.3.1 disabled with no option to remove it. Tried a number of reboots, but no change. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 14 and it still has 2012.7.3.1 and says it is incompatible with firefox. Last thing I tried was a reset of firefox to try and lose all add ons, but when it came back it picked up Norton Protection, but still had Norton Toolbas 2012.7.3.1.
Any ideas as to how I can get my toolbar back please?

Hi stemi08,
You need to run LiveUpdate (rebootng when requested) as many times as it take for Live Update to respond "no updates found" - if it says LiveUpdate Complete or something similiar continue to run it until the magical "no updates found is displayed. Then check for NTB extention 2012.7.4.1 and ensure it is enabled.
Please post back with results.

Hi,
I went through it again and ran Live update until I got the message no further updates. I rebooted the machine and still Firefox has Norton Toolbar 2012.7.3.1 listed in extensions as disabled. I then tried a reset of Firefox to get rid of add ons, but when it cameback it had Norton Vulnerability protection 11.0.0.243-2 listed and disabled and I was able to enable it OK, but it still had Norton Toolbar 2012.7.3.1 listed as disabled and does not offer a button to remove it. Help!

Hi stemi08,
This is a situation I have come across before in NIS, N360 and NSS with previous FF upgrades. It may sound redunent to you and you may say I have done all this before, but this method has worked in the past for others, so please give it a try.
Please do the following in the exact order I list:
Totally uninstall Firefox
Download a fresh copy of Firefox 14.0.1 from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
Install the fresh copy of firefox.
Download a fresh copy of NIS 2012 from here: www.norton.com/nis12
If you use Identity Safe, backup your Identity Safe data. Due to the critical nature of the information contained in ID safe we would recommend backing that up manually first just as a precaution even though you will choose to retain all settings when removing NIS.
Remove NIS using Programs and Features - do not run the NRT as you'll want to keep your Identitiy Safe and other settings.
Install the fresh copy of NIS.. Run LiveUpdate as many times as necessary for it to respond that there are no updates found (rebooting as requested by LiveUpdate).
Once all that is done in the order I am asking for you to do it, please check Firefox 14.0.1 and also look at "Add-on's" and see if Norton Toolbar 2012.7.4.1 and Norton Vulernability Protection 11.0.0.243-2. are listed and shown as enabled.
Do you now have the Norton Toolbar in FF 14.0.1?

The NIS file in the location you specify is NIS-ESD-19-5-1-2-EN.exe. I thought that the version with the fix was 19.7.1.5. is this download the right version. I thought I would just check before I go ahead. Many thanks for your reponses.
Regards Michael

Hi stemi08,
That is the correct download. Once it is downloaded and you do the following it will update to 19.7.1.5 via LiveUpdate.
"Install the fresh copy of NIS.. Run LiveUpdate as many times as necessary for it to respond that there are no updates found (rebooting as requested by LiveUpdate)."
Please keep us posted.
