Identity Safe says "unavailable browser restart required". I have restarted the browser, and the whole computer, no help. Now the Norton Internet Security app won't start. HELP! I have to say, I don't like not having a customer service number I can call...

Hi Donfief,
Welcome to Norton community,
Could provide following information to more about the issue?,
Product version(you can find it in NIS main UI->Support->About),OS, Browser Type with version, Latest Product version should be NIS 19.6.2.10.
If you don't have latest version,Please run live update until it shows "No updates required" and restart the system whenever it requires.
Let us know how it goes?
Thanks,
Senthil

has this issue been fixed?

Apparently not. I just saw this this morning for the first time, and I just updated to the latest NIS 19.7.0.9. A browser restart didn't fix it, but a complete computer reboot did.
I'm really regretting ever updating to NIS 2012. Identity Safe in 2011 was almost flawless and was a great help, but 2012 has been nothing but one problem after another. I'm about ready to dump it and go back to sticky notes.

Silly question but how did you run live update if the programme is unresponsive? I am having the same issue and not being able to get into NIS2012 means my only option appears to be an un-install.

Hi Garawa,
You can right click on the Systray icon of your NIS at the bottom right corner and do Liveupdate, if this also not working then do a scan with NPE.

Sagar

Since this issue occured the icon in the tray has dissappered and both shortcuts on XP's desktop and in the start menu are unresponsive.
What is NPE?

garawa, this is the exact same thing on my machine. desktop icon unresponsive, system tray icon disappears when you click on it. i don't know why when you turn your computer off, wait 5 minutes, turn back on that norton still does not work. hopefully the reinstall will fix it.
