Identity safe

This morning live update failed four time to update.  After an hour it completed and now have 19.7.1.5. installed.

I'm using vista 32 bit.  And now find after the update, Identity safe will not work on Flickr.  I am getting very fed up with Norton.

I'm not Norton

Just a couple of questions. Were you running live update manually the first time? How long did you wait between attempts? Was it just an update or were you doing an upgrade to the latest version? Did you backup your identity save data before you did the upgrade? Have you run live update and rebooted as directed on the new version until the program tells you that all updates have been downloaded and installed?

Thanks

Re: Identity safe

Hi Dick, thanks for answering.  No it was not manual live update, so I did not backup identity safe.  And yes data was lost from the IS when it was rebooted.  But it still will not populate after I re-entered the data. into IS. Thanks

Hi,

I'm still a bit confused but it does sound like the update/upgrade didn't do everything according to the book. In which case I'm going to recommend that you download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool forund here: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20110217171332EN

That should get you a clean current copy of your Norton product. I'd confirm that it is current by running live update until the program tells you that all of the updates have been downloaded and installed. The process should also fix whatever is not happening correctly with identity safe.

Re: Identity safe

Thanks for taking the time to try and solve this problem. I have done as you have asked, but to no avail, Flickr login will not populate.  Also now on restarting the computer it now keep playing a chim which on testing sounds have traced to the 'Device failed to connect' sound.

It repeates this sound three times before going away, but Does this every time the computer is restarted.

Only started this after I ran the remove & Reinstall tool ?

Re: Identity safe

I do not know what the removal & install tools has done to my computer, but I can not now import photos from my camera on to the pc, all that I get is the 'device failed to connect' chim.  So where do we go from here ?

Re: Identity safe

The only way to sort this has been to do a full system restore.   Sorry Norton I have lost trust in you

Hi,

Sorry to read that you may be blaming Norton for something else that has happened on your system. Have you run a full scan with Norton or another free scanner like Malwarebytes or Superantispyware? Both are Norton compatible and make great second opinions when things don't seen 'right'.

Re: Identity safe

Hi Dick, FACT all was well untill the norton's  update, FACT when I ran the uninstall & Reinstall tool I than had more problems which has proven to be  the uninstall Tool had corruped some of the drivers on my pc.  Only taking int back to manufactures setting solved the problem. But  if you wish to pretend that these thing are not caused by norton, fine.
