With Firefox 11.0 hours away from being released. Will Symantec be prompt in releasing a compatibility update for Norton Toolbar/IPS?

It has already been leaked but was removed from the Mozilla d/l FTP server hours later.

Hi SGFC,

Just to add to Senthil's post,  please wait until you see an update here about compatibility with the new version of Firefox BEFORE you install the latest release.  This will avoid the Norton Toolbar issues we see here every time a new version is released.

FWIW, I just installed Fx 11 Beta 8 this morning and the toolbar is working fine so far.

same here  toolbar working well in firefox 11 beta 8 runing norton 360 6.1.1.8

The fact that the Norton Toolbar is working with Firefox 11 beta builds is interesting, but it should be remembered that until the final release of Firefox 11 and an announcement from Norton that the toolbar is compatible, Firefox 11 is not officially supported.  If you depend on a working toolbar, it is best to wait until everything is officially in place before installing Firefox 11 RTM.

Firefox 11.0 has been released unofficially. No not the leak from the other day. Yes, yes I know wait for the official release.

Any way I went to add-on's in Firefox 11.0 and just clicked Enable next to Norton Toolbar and IPS and they *appear* to work.

According to THIS POST, Firefox 11 is delayed at least "a day or two". 

As soon as we're compatible, we'll post an announcement on these forums like we have done with the previous releases of Firefox.

The link posted above my last post contained this information 03/12/12:

"UPDATE: The security bug reported by ZDI is one we had already identified and fixed through our internal processes. This eliminates the need for us to delay this week’s releases, and we will be shipping them later today. However, in order to understand the impacts of Microsoft’s “Patch Tuesday” fixes, we will initially release Firefox for manual updates only. Once those impacts are understood, we’ll push automatic updates out to all of our users."

So Firefox 11.0 has been released for manual update. It'll be automatic after MS delivers it's monthly updates.
