May be, but FF has only NT and VP extensions... so you have to disable NT. And in IE 9 if you disable only IP the Norton Toolbar disappears and not works.

As I said I don't use FF and I don't use the toolbar itself so I was not aware of this. InIE9 you can check Toolbar without IP since I that in my tests but I didn't look to see if the Toolbar was visible or not.

I've tried today morning again:  FF 14.0.1  and IE 9  are still crashing.

Re: NIS 19.8 crashing IE 9 and Firefox on some sites

I have the same problem with IE, Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.  The error report looks identical except the browser changes according to the beowser you are using.  The only site I have had problems with is www.artofillusion.org.  It is an open source graphic program and have used the site many times prior.  Yes. disabling Nortons in the browsers prevents the crash and Opera has no problems with the site.

Re: NIS 19.8 crashing IE 9 and Firefox on some sites

Is there an easy way to see which file is offending NIS? As much faith as I have in Norton clearing this issue up, its affecting a ton of my users and I'd like to rectify it myself if possible.

Can we get something a little more official than a random forum statement? I have hundreds of customers facing this issue and would like to give them something more official, from Norton, stating that this is indeed thier issue and that Norton recommends disabling Safe Web in order to get a work around.
