I just updated to the latest version of Suite 6 and found that after I did all the specail updates so that identity safe would work with Firefox 13 all my saved logins were gone.
Talked to a tech guy at Comcast and he said that is the way the program works is over writes the old file.
If that is true shame on Norton.
Luckely I had a manual backup and eventually found an old version of most of my log ins
the Norton update should have warned about overwriting the saved logins or back them up automatically
BTW I am running windows7 64 bit

Hi paulgritt,
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. I hate to inform you that the tech from Comcast was incorrect in what he said about it being the way the program works by overwritting the old file.
In fact the way the upgrade is supposed to work is that it saves all your ID Safe logins and other settings, removes the old copy of NSS and installs the new copy along with your ID Safe data and other settings that it saved. Runing the updates to make the Norton Tool Bar compatable with FF 13.0.1 should have no effect on your ID Safe data.
I upgraded my NSS version 5 to version 6 by using the overinstall method as you described without any problems.
The only time I have heard of something going astray is when the customer was having various problems with NSS prior to attempting the overinstall. In such a case it would be better to backup (export) your ID Safe Data, remove the old version, run the Norton removal tool and then install the upgraded version. Did yu have any problems with your old install?
I am glad to hear that you did have a backup of your logins and hopefully got it all up to date and working now.
In regards to automatically backing up the logins there is a Product Suggestion Board here where you can make your suggestion directly to Norton.
BTW - everyone should backup (export) their ID Safe Data on a regular basis in order to have a current file they can restore ( import) if anything should happen to their system.
Hope this information helps in the future.

When you upgrade Comcast 5.0 to 6.0, it should save your login info.
few questions to troubleshoot your issue:
1. Did you uninstall comcast 5.0 before installing 6.0? If yes, then did you choose to save your data before uninstalling the product?
2. Did you run LiveUpdate to get the latest update? what is the product version? you can find the version from support link and select About, it will tell you the version number. You will need 6.2.1 in order to work with Firefox 13. You can get the 6.2.1 by running LiveUpdate and reboot to get the latest version, if it does not bring you to the latest version, then you will need to run LiveUpdate and reboot to try again.
3. Is the norton Toolbar showing up on the browser? if not, then do the following:
a. check if you have version 6.2.1.
b. enable norton toolbar from your browser.
thanks,
Fei
