Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

My issue also occurs in both Firefox and IE9 whenever I try to visit www.GodArtist.com

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

I have the same problem, since new updates installed, 2012-8-14.  Should I be worried?  How do I fix it??  Thanks for any help.

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

I'm also having the same crashing problem but with Internet Explorer 9, Google Chrome and Firefox but only for one site that I visit often  www.lespac.com.  This problem occured the same time as the latest version of Norton Internet Security around Aug-14-2012.

If I disable Norton add-ons on all of them, no more crashes!

What is the problem?

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

There's a conflict with the Internet Protection element of the Norton Toolbar addon. Norton is working on a fix for release via Live Update but a workaround for the time being is to disable the IP element or the toolbar. In IE you can do each of the 3 elements individually but I don't know about Chrome; they may be linked.

But it is just a workaround until the fix comes down.

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

I am having the same problem with Norton & IE9, Chrome & Firefox.  The only one without a problem seems to be Opera, but there are no extensions for Norton in Opera.  When is this going to be fixed?  I also have it happening on Chrome, IE7 on XP.

It's enough to make one want to change antivirus software.

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

Lois,

All I can say is that Norton are not sitting around wondering what they can do next to annoy users! :smileylol:

They have told us here that they have a team working on a fix but one of the problems of any fix is that however small it might be (and I've no idea whether this one is large or small) it has to go through the same testing to make sure not just that it works on an immende range of different combinations of hardware and software but that it doesn't break something that works now.

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

Can I add to the jigsaw puzzle.

I only get the "crash" message on one URL and that is a site that has a JAVA applette

and only appeared after I had updated to JAVA version 7 update 5 or is it a coincidence ?

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

I'm gathering from the below posts that there indeed is a conflict between Norton Confidential and Google Chrome.  However, I can't seem to find any solution to this problem!  Is there something that I'm missing?

Re: Norton Confidential crashing after update (chrome)

I am running both Norton 360 and Comcast Security Suite 2012.  Norton 360 on the Vista computers and Security Suite on the Windows 7.  IE9 and Chrome.  On IE9, you have to disable the Norton Toolbar and the Norton Indentity Protection.  On Chrome, you disable the Norton Identity Protect..  This drove me crazy for a while.

You are not missing anything except perhaps having picked up that Norton is working on a fix, has been since it was identified, and that when that is completed and tested by them it will be released -- the last they said was it would be released through LiveUpdate.

You can count on an announcement when that happens.

Meanwhile there is the workaround of  disabling the Norton Internet Protection (aka Confidentiality) element in the browser add-ons until the fix comes down.
