IE is not the "world's biggest" browser anymore. Chrome is the most used browser on the planet, and has been for awhile. I did have the crashing problem with IE, and so do many others who have posted here.
Please do not continue to pretend to anyone that there is no problem with Norton being used in conjunction with IE or Chrome...you're doing yourself a disservice. I'm glad you haven't had a problem, but there are (obviously) thousands or millions of us who do have.
Hi bethy0543,
I am not pretending anything. Simply stating my opinion on this subject. After using IE, Chrome and Norton, my opinion is the problem lies with Chrome and I am a Chrome user, it's my preferred browser. I am doing myself no disservice whatsoever!!
The great thing about America is that we are fully entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts!

Ed

Hi Linda,
I assume you are using the Chrome browser when the plugin, (Norton Confidential), crashes. This is a very long running issue. Many Chrome users, including myself, have differing degrees of problems with the plugin. The best I can do is provide a link, if you don't mind doing some reading, on the problem.
This thread started in 2011 and runs to the present.

Hello
I use Chrome, and the Norton Confidential plug-in CONSTANTLY crashes, resulting in freezing all the tabs I have open. It is SO frustrating.
Does anyone know what Norton product is this part of? Whatever it is, I'm not going to renew it! I have 2 products: Norton Utilities, and Norton Internet Security.
And does anyone know how I can permanently disable this plug-in? Many thanks in advance

PLEASE HELP!! I use the latest version of Google Chrome. It doesn't matter what site I am on, but if Flash player of Java is in use sooner or later you are bound to have a crash report of the norton confidential plug-in. I do not know what this plug-in is for, but it is getting quite irratating. How do I disable this plug-in!!! Because apparently the problem has NOT been fixed.

Go to a new tab and type: about:plugins or chrome://plugins/
then hit enter. you may disable from there.

This is the first time Norton Confidential has crashed in Google Chrome. I have been using these programs together for years.
I also thought there would be a fix here, but. alas, I must look elsewhere!

Experiencing this issue as well. I really don't get why this thread has been flagged as "resolved". Just because the root or casue of the problem reported was found it does not mean the actual issue was solved: there is no real solution to the problem as of yet. For instance, you can have had a cold for weeks, and then realize the cause of your cold is that your defenses are down. Knowing that does not cure your cold nor strenghtens your immune system. In order to do so, you need to do something about it.
Also, even if I were to accept the premise the crash occurs due to a pb on Google's end, it still does not speak very well of Norton to not try to find another alternative to circumvent Google's problems.
Bottomline, I am really not convinced about Norton's position on this and think they are to blame as much as Google is.

Fascinating. I've been running chrome for a while with no Norton Confidential issues at all. Suddenly today, Crash! The first time I fired up Chrome after a MS update. So is it Norton? Chrome? Or Microsoft? lol! (I'm running XP, btw.)

Thank you David, it worked for me!
