Hi everyone,
I really hope someone can help me because I dont know what else to to.
I am running Firefox 14.0.1 and Norton 360 v6 on a Windows 7 32bit PC and just recently both of the extensions in Firefox have gone. I have tried everything I can possibly think off to fix this -
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Norton 360
3. Renamed the coFFPlgn.dll file in the Norton 360 folder
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks a lot

Hi michaelswift,
First question is the usual - Have you run LiveUpdate (rebooting a requested) until it reposnds "no updates found"?? Please note, reponding as up to date ect is not what we are looking for, we are specifically looking for "no updates found".
Next question is how did you remove and reinstall N360? Did yuo remove it from Programs & Features and then reinstallit or did you remove it via Programs & Featires and then run the Norton Removal Tool, or did yuo in fact use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, or did you use some other method (possibly using CCleaner or an uninstaller)?

Hi and thanks for your reply,
I have tried uninstalling Norton 360 using both methods (Add/Remove programs and Norton remove and reinstall tool, to no availability.
I have since used live update until it states that 'no updates found'.
Thanks again

Hi michaelswift,
Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify - you stated you used the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool. That is not the tool I was asking about. The Norton Removal Toolis a different tool used to remove any left over bits of a Norton Install from yru system in order to create a clean environment for a fresh install of a Norton Product.
Please follow the instructions below and we'll try to make sure you get a clean install of N 360.
If you use Identity Safe for your Logins, please back it up (export) the data so it can be Restored (Imported) after you install a fresh copy of N 360.
Plese remove the copy of N 360 you have installed, using the Control Panel uninstall via Programs & Features.
Download and run the Norton Remvoal Tool and reboot after it is completed. The NRT can be found here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp
Download a fresh copy and install:
www.norton.com/n360s_6 (Standard Edition)
or
www.norton.com/n360p_6 (Premiere Edition)
Once installation is complete, open N 360 and manually Run LiveUpdate as many times as necessary for it to respond "no more updates found". If a reboot is requested, reboot and then continue to Run LiveUpdate until it responds "no more updates found" and then reboot one last time.
Once totally updated, don't forget to Restore/Import your ID Safe data.
Please keep us posted.

Hi,
Remember to enable them in FF. They are disabled by default.

Hi,
I cant enable them as when I click on my extensions, they arent even there.
This is very strange as until a couple of days ago, they were there.

Hi michaelswift,
There are a few other cases of folks having this same problem and one thing we have detected is they all have the same Engine number listed in the following location:
C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85E
N360_6.x.x.x, x is the version number and the number I would like for you to report back to us.
Also there is an install.rdf file, listed when you open the Engine number folder. Please open this file in Notepad and check for Min version 12.0 and max version 14.*
You'll actually be looking in the following location:
Location for install.rdf file C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85E
and looking for the following towards the bottom of the notepad.
<em:minVersion>12.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>14.*</em:maxVersion>
Please also tell us if the min/max is 12/14.* or something different.

Thanks, now one more request:
If Norton toolbar is not listed FF->tools->Addons->Extension, We need to make sure the entries in Extensions.ini file are correct or not.
Extensions.ini file present is located here: %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\SomeRandomeValu
The easiest way to get to that is to Click on Start > Run > type in %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and select OK. You will then see the "randon value default" and opeing this folder and then opening extentions.ini with notepad will provide the information you are seeking.
It shouldlook like this:
Extension1=C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F
Extension2=C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F
The numbers Extension1 and Extension2 will vary accordingly depending on the other addons present in your Fire
You can copy the whiole extention.ini here and we'll check it.
Also, I am curious if you could include the upper half of the last Min/Max notepad. There is a Nortopn Toolbar Version number in the upper portion that we need to see.
We'll be awaitng your responses.
