I don't think we're talking about 'their' pricing and structure. Symantec/Norton has determined that FF.x is what they will support. They have also elected which versions of that product to support. The FF.ESR line is not part of the product line being supported by the 'home' versions of the toolbak and identity safe.
Until that descision changes I doubt that there is much more to be said. Have you had any luck talking to FF about their decisions and trying to get them to be more Norton friendly?

Au revoir, but I have found it important to me to uninstall Norton and reinstall AVG INTERNET SECURITY 2012, whose Link Scanner's Surf Shield and Search Shield remain fully compatible with Firefox 10 ESR (regardless of whether or not you install the AVG Toolbar).
This did not have to be, for the reasons that I explained in my June 7 and June 10 posts, and were even better explained in Ryan Kass's June 9 and June 10 posts.
You would have thought that Norton could have given users the ability to reinstall the Norton Toolbar version which worked fine in early June with Firefox 10.0.4 ESR.
I know that at the end of the year, when version 16.0.0 or 17.0.0 of both Firefox and Firefox ESR are released (and are identical), that Firefox ESR will work with Norton's Toolbar for 4 to 6 months - until regular Firefox is version 19 or 20 (while the ESR version is only 16.0.4 or 17.0.4 and is abandoned by Norton). However I make searches in the second half of the year also.

Hi,
Sorry you feel it necessary to change products. Be sure to download and run the NOrton Removal Tool and reboot before you install your choice of security products. It will make the transition much easier.
We'll be here when you need us

Of couse, AVG LinkScanner and AVG Search-Shield support have been discontinued, as mentioned in this post on the AVG Forums:

These are replaced by AVG Secure Search, which apparently uses a third-party search engine, much like the optional Norton Safe Search does.
Also, rather than maintain compatibility with new Firefox versions, AVG has decided to discontinue AVG Safe Search for Firefox 13 and newer:

As you can see, the accelerated Firefox release schedule is causing vendors everywhere to make hard choices in terms of maintaining add-on support. Norton has elected to maintain toolbar compatibility with current versions of Firefox at the expense of older versions, whereas AVG appears to have opted instead for a server-side solution, which carries its own set of tradeoffs for Firefox users.
