I cleary aggree that you should not have to uninstall and reinstall to get the patch to work. This has happened on every verison of FF currently. It's not a FF issue it'a Symantic issue.

I was having the exact same problem-except I have N360-and I FINALLY figured out how to solve it. I went to the firefox help button, then troubleshooting, then clicked the 'restore firefox to default' button, and the toolbar was available in extensions to enable. Success! Hope it works for someone else

Thank you Lisa252
That sounds like a much more straight forward solution worth trying.
I'll let you know if it works.

Yes, Mr wilson, please do let us know if FireFox is causing the problem or not. Also that very information is the link you provided here about previous versions of FF. http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Nort
It just may heklp others as well.

Unfortunately using the restore default feature in Firefox did not restore the toolbar as was suggested by Lisa252 Its very frustrating to see huge updates in LiveUpdate download or just regular updatse, but never the toolbar never appears in Firefox. I have spent far to much time on this issue, this is why I am happy to stick with an older version of FF for the time being. I am very angry about this issue. The problem could be solved right away if i could just download the freaking toolbar somewhere for NIS2012.
I can not speak for Norton, however, I do believe that there is not such a creature available I know of no NTB download that will place the NTB in FF.. If there were one, it would sure make my volunteering assistance easier. No NTB - try this download www.NTB fix.com. ![]()
I do believe everytime FF does their frequent updates different parts of the code (in different sections of the code depenedent on what changes FF makes in each version) consitutes what makes up the NTB. Those parts of the code that do not need change are not changed, thus the "latest version of the NTB" is in fact a string of code changes (updates) made in an certain order and that's why the reboots in LiveUpdate to keep the sequence in order.
You have seen my suggestion about the "exact order procedure" - and that is why - to keep the sequence in tact. Most folks are just happy to have a work around. Is it a PITA - sure, and should it be necessary? Probably not - but if you want it work, then you have to consider doing it.
If you want to complain rather than using the work around, that also is your prorogative and I understand your points. Perhpas you should be sitting at my system and having all these folks posting about how things do not work, and why they should work and how they paid for them to work and all you can do is make suggestions about a work around. Folks complain about the uninstall/ reinstall (both FF and Norton), but IMHO - it's going to remain like that until FF stops their foolisness with their all too frequent updates.
One more thing, you may have noticed that Norton is dropping support for older versions of FF - currently nothing older than FF 12. I also believe it is because with each new version new code is added for the newest version, and perhaps some of the older version code (pre 12) also needed to be changed and it just too much to keep it all current in view of the short turn around time requested by the users to get the NTB working with the newset version.
I hope that makes sense to you and remember, I may not even be correct in what I have said (re the coding) - but it makes sense to me. If I am wrong, I am sure someone will come along and correct me.
Keep us posted if you find sometihng that works.

As frustrated as I am, I am also concluding that this is more Firefox than Norton's fault. I think I might just give up Firefox.
What browsers does the toolbar work in ? Chrome ? Safari ? Opera ?

Mr Wilson,
I really have had no problem with using Internet Explorer 9 - but that may open another bucket of worms.
It is advertised as working in Chrome also. I do not believe Safari is supported in Windows and it appears is neither in Safari on my ipad3. Not sure about Opera, Sea monkey and others.
BTW - 32 bit IE 9 - not 64 bit!

Today all of my systems were updated to Norton 6.3.0.14 and amazing that the new update fixed the tool bar all by itself. This was definitely a Norton problem. The way I see it from past experience this will only be good until firefox update their version to 15.

Change your Updates setting in Firefox from "Automatically install updates" to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to install them." Always make sure that you check the Norton forums for confirmation that the new Toolbar is available, and make sure that you install it before updating Firefox. As for it being a Norton issue, I'm not so sure. I have seen cases where it is a Firefox profile issue - the user's profile will not update, but creating a new profile reveals that the new Toolbar is indeed there. It could be a Norton issue or it could be a corrupted profile in some cases.
