So, NRnR solved the problem for me, and I didn't have to go through the work associated with uninstalling and reinstalling FF. The next time FF upgrades (15 is due 12-08-28), I will be sure to check that Norton has a compatible toolbar and run Live Update until "no more updates found".
Glad to hear things worked out for you hrussd. It seems different things work for diffferent systems - depending on what all was done prior to running each tool. There is a very touchy update sequence and anything that breaks (puts out of order) that sequence of updates will cause problems with the upgrade. I agree with your waiting on the NTB compatability update before installing the new FF.
BTW, there is an option in FF under Tools > Options > Advanced > Update Tab > to Check for Updates, but let me choose whether to install them - which will permit you to delay the install until after Noroton update comes through. Use it in lieu of the option to Automatically install updates - even though it is the recommended action.

Thank goodness for that -- its the only reason my toolbar is still working (I keep telling it "Later").
I need to get this fixed before upgrading to FF 14.

I have Norton 360 v6.2.1.5.It is not updating the toolbar in firefox (see related topic). If I uninstall and reinstall Norton 360 as per the recommendations there, how do I save and restore my Norton 360 settings?
I have made a lot of customizations to its settings and I don't want to have to manually note them all down and reapply them.

Please tell us which set of recommendations in the referenced thread you are referring to? There is the "exact ordered procedure", which removes and reinstalls both FF and Norton, and also the Remove and Reinstall Tool method listed.
Where are your customizations made?
This is something I dug out of some info I have saved from Norton:
The user-defined settings of the core components do not migrate, and the product default prevails after an up upgrade, however I do believe ID Safe will migrate with the RnRT method. I know the firewall rules do not for sure.
The core components are:
■ Auto-Protect
■ SONAR
■ Smart Firewall
■ Identity Safe
That's porobably not much help, but a suggestion as to what I did a few years ago (I was on XP at the time) when I reset my Internet Explorer Advanced Settings and did not want to write all the changes I had made down.... I took screenshots of the settings before they were changed. I needed about 6 screenshots as I remember, but it was easier for me than writting each option down. Of course if you have mamy, you may not even remember all you changed - so the screenshots would work great for comparison after you do the reinstall.
Perhaps someone else can spell out exactly whatis migrated and what is not.

I also saw the post regarding V 3 (and excused it as old) and apparently they still have not corrected it - as there is a post on the suiggest Board from July stating they lost their firewall settings :
You state you are thinking about just uninstalling/reinstalling N 360 - I was under the impression you tried that numerous times in the past.

I have not tried that yet on this version of Norton 360. It didn't solve the problem with whatever version I had when Firefox 7 came out. But updating to the next version of Norton 360 that came out after that did fix the problem.
I would say go for it then (and please keep us posted) - but I also ask you to consider the screenshot idea of all the changes you have made so you have a record of them! ![]()
