Toolbar not working after upgrade to Firefox 14.01.1

[ Edited ]

I have the same problem. However I have additional information to provide.

When I upgraded to Firefox 14.0.1 I ran live update. This told me - as I expected - that a reboot was required. Unfortunately the reboot failed rather spectacularly. The subsequent attempt at windows repair also failed. However when I powered off and on, it rebooted just fine - but to a version of Windows before the most recent Microsoft security patches. It also reverted to the previous version of Firefox. I have managed to bring the PC back up to date, but now the Norton toolbar remains disabled in Firefox, and live update doesn't offer a new version. Neither does Firefox offer an option to remove the Norton toolbar so that I can get Norton Internet Security to reinstate it.

Now all of this may be irrelevant, but the fact remains that I have now lost the Norton toolbar and can't see a way of getting it back that doesn't require geek-type knowledge of Firefox.

On previous occasions when there were issues you have released a hotfix. Is there a link to a downloadable version of toolbar version 2012.7.4.1 (which I understand is the one required) please?

Hi Nedsram,

When you say the reboot failed  after live update - did you get any windows BSOD issue(blue screen)? Is your OS - XP? If yes, just go through this link where we have a given a fix for this issue.

Once you are done with the workaround please try running Norton live update and Firefox update to 14.0.1. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Toolbar not working after upgrade to Firefox 14.01.1

Too late for your solution, but yes, it did report a blue screen when I finally got it working.

The solution was to uninstall NIS retaining settings and reinstall it. A pain, involving several reboots, but now it works again.

I think that the original failed reboot had corrupted NIS, as Norton Vulnerability Protection was showing the new version, but Norton Toolbar was showing the old version.

Thanks for the reply - apparently I forgot to subscribe to the thread so I have only just seen your reply.
