id safe not able to log into norton account

I can create a local password but cant log into norton account. It tries to connect for sometime and shows network error. I think this started after version19.7.1.5 was released. Iam not sure. There is no problem with my account because i can access it on the browser. I  changed the password from the browser, but still the same problem. Iam sure there is no use reinstalling since i got a new pc and installed  directly from the norton website instead of using the old setup that i had on the old pc. Now i have to save all passwords into the local account manually. Saving online was completely useless.

Re: id safe not able to log into norton account

Just to confirm, you are trying to log into your online Identity Safe vault?

Be sure that you have clicked on the Log into Norton Account on the screen that logs you into Identity Safe. Then use the password for your onilne vault, not the local vault password.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Try clicking on Support - Get Support to run  Autofix to check your installation and fix what it finds.

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available?

Hi numasfir,

In regards to your original problem:

Here are two other links indicating similiar probelms and it seems to have been a server problem in the pst and could be one now also.  Norton has different servers for the different areas of their customers, so it is possible the one for your area may be having difficuties.

In regards to the red bold part of your last post:

Can you tell us more about your new PC and the Norton Installation?

Was NIS 2012 installed when you purchased the system and if so, is it a trial version?  I know you installed it via "the Norton Website".  Can you tell us if you used your Norton Account to download it or another link for the Norton download?

Was there another AV product installed on your system when you purchased it?  If so that wuold have to also be removed prior to installing Norton and in most cases the other products removal tool would have to be run.

BTW, dependent on what traces of previous or exsisting security products of Norton or other producers are left behind even a download from Norton can become corrupted during the installation.  SO IMHO I would not ignore the suggestion of a reinstall.  There may also be a need to run a Norton Removal Tool after your uninstall in order to clean up the current install.

Also, if you do get all your logins enter back into this copy of NIS, remember the Export/Backup your ID Safe Data so it is available to Import/restore after you get anothr copy of NIS installed.  You can go to Settings > web > Identity Safe >ensure you are loggged into your local vault and then select  Export Data.

If you need any help doing any of this let us know.

Re: id safe not able to log into norton account

I'm having this same problem...

I uninstalled N360 and installed the ID Safe bar.  For a couple days I was able to login just fine.  Last evening I couldn't log into my Norton Account.  I shutdown and restarted this morning.  I've been trying all day to log into my Norton Account and I either get bad password or Network error.

However, I went to the Norton Account web page and was able to login to my Norton Account and vault just fine on the web site... just can't log into my Norton Account via the toolbar (it does say it found my Norton Account via the email address but I can't get past the password.)

Interestingly, I clicked on the help link on the ID login and started a chat session with Norton support.  After doing a remote control session and seeing the problem they stated that the toolbar is a standalone beta and they don't offer any support for it.

sigh...

So it is not a new computer - but a rebuilt of your old one?  Is it a new/reformatted HDD?

Just curious - have you ever created a new ID Safe Account within the latest installation of Norton?

Re: id safe not able to log into norton account

I would say a new motherboard, processor, ram and gpu is considered new and it will require new windows. This time iam trying 64bit. Since i cant log in i found it useless to use id safe.
