I am running OS X 10.7.3. Just today I started receiveing the message "Norton AntiVirus Error. AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not load the scan engine. Please run Live Update to get the latest version." I ran Live Updatye . Still got the same message. Then uninstalled NIS and reinstalled NIS. Still get same message.

I have the same problem that has just started, and now I am without virus protection. I've tried reinstalling Norton Antivirus and restarting the system with no luck.

Symantec was able to help me with this problem by using their removal tool for mac that cleared the system of all Norton files. I then reloaded Norton Internet Security 5 for Mac, and now everything is back to normal - for the time being. Thanks Symantec staff for your help.

Exactly the same issue. I upgraded to v12 last night on my new Macbook Pro running 10.7.3 Fresh install of everything, mac straight out of the box and I get the Scan Engine could not be loaded. I tried updating [Norton] and am told I am it's up-to-date, however against each update is a red cross rather than expected a green tick. Am I missing something ??

Symantec advised me to totally remove all of the Norton files using their removal tool for mac
and then reinstall the product. This worked for me. You'll require your product key from your Norton users account.
Good luck, Ed
