Eraser/strange behavior

[ Edited ]

I use NAV 11, I have been a customer since the Mayflower landed.

Is the Norton Eraser compatible with Mac?

Strange behavior

Earlier this Imac  began to download without help, 2300 images all of the important stuff. Like directional arrows and all other sorts of pointless images.

Does this indicate a virus  or other malignancy,  or is the computer operating on its own?

Thank you for any input!!!!!!

Re: Eraser/strange behavior

No, there is no Norton Eraser for Mac.  What were you doing when the download occurred?  Had you clicked on a link, or did it just start a download with no user interaction?  I haven't heard of this.

Re: Eraser/strange behavior

I was sitting at the keyboard when I glanced up and saw this horrenduus number of arrow icons, etc to be downloaded.

Attempts were made to quit, escape or otherwise stop download. Keyboard not functional,  turned off the electrical power to stop.

No further attempt at auto download noted.

Re: Eraser/strange behavior

This certainly sounds strange.  I apologize, but I have a little trouble picturing what you were seeing on screen.  Was there some sort of window saying "Downloading...", I was a little unsure how you knew what (and how much) was being downloaded.  Are there any leftover files from your download folder you could send?  If so, I'll send a private message with an email address.

Re: Eraser/strange behavior

Using 10.7.2, with large downloads it shows how much is left. One the screen, I saw meaningless icons, directional arrows and assorted items flashing by.

I had done nothing to initiate any kind of download. Perhaps it was just a random event which has not repeated.

Just consider this an FYI.

Thanks for your help!

I am wondering if it might be some kind of automatic updating that one of your programs does, but I would expect that would be more explanatory.  Do you use any graphics applications?

Re: Eraser/strange behavior

It doesn't sound like iPhoto.  BTW, I sent a private message with my email.  If you already sent something, it's possible our mail scanner caught it, if it was actually infected.  If so I'll have to send additional instructions on how to encrypt the sample,
