Norton for Mac

I use both NIS for Windows and Mac. On the Windows 7 computers, NIS updates on its own initiative, but on my MacBook, it seems to update only when I click on Live Update>>Update Everything Now. Is there somewhere I need to place a check mark to enable auto-updating, or is this simply the way it is? Thanks.

Unlike NIS 4 for Mac (which starts LiveUpdate in the foreground), NIS 5 for Mac silently updates in the background (every 2 hours).

You can manually run LiveUpdate and it would check for updates, but that should no longer be necessary.  There's no setting you need to enable, as NIS 5 for Mac should automatically be checking on its own.

If you open AntiVirus or Firewall, and choose View History, you should see Updates entries showing new signatures and definitions being downloaded.

If updates aren't being downloaded, please check the console log (/Applications/Utilities/Console) for any LiveUpdate-related errors.
