Norton AntiVirus 11 on Mac OS X Server - does a user need to be logged in?

Hello, we have a site license for Norton AntiVirus and our auditors have requested we install Norton AntiVirus on our Mac OS X Servers (10.4.11 and 10.5.8); however we've found that it doesn't scan or update without a user logged in. Is this true? If it is - is there some kind of documentation I can point the auditors to so they can understand?

Any additional information would be helpful.

Re: Norton AntiVirus 11 on Mac OS X Server - does a user need to be logged in?

With Mac OS X 10.5, it is possible to setup Norton AntiVirus so that it downloads updates to the virus  definitions without any user logged in using launchd. However, because Norton AntiVirus is a consumer product, we don't support it used like that--so you will need to rely on the community here for help setting it up, as Symantec technical support will not assist you. Symantec AntiVirus, our corporate product, is more suited for your needs, but depending on what your needs are, it might be fine to use Norton AntiVirus.

In the consumer NAV version, scheduled scans DO occur with no user logged in.
