Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

I had version 11 before and it worked fine even under Lion 10.7.2.  My sub ran out so I upgrade to version 12, download the installer and it removed 11 and installed 12.  Seemed to activate fine, however when it tried to run the updater, it would give me an error that an error had occurred and to retry - nothing worked.  Reboot and tried again.  No luck either.  It seems to either not be installed correction even tho i was.  So used the uninstaller and removed the product - during the install it removed Stuffit Deluxe framework or something like that.  So I figured that I needed to remove Stuffit - did and rebooted.  Did not make a difference - still can not run liveupdate due to the error, can't turn on virus protection or configure it - say scan engine not loaded so try running liveupdated.  Seems like a circle to me.

Any one else experience anything like this?

Thanks

I have attached my log file.  Subscription seems to work fine and it does tell me how many days are left.  The log file of liveupdate, which does not seem to work nor working after installation.

Re: Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

The reason why you can't turn on virus protection is that no virus definitions have been downloaded.  Once LiveUpdate is working properly and the virus definitions have been downloaded, virus protection will be enabled.

Error 1009 means "No Internet connection."  It seems that LiveUpdate can't connect to the server.

Assuming you have an internet connection on that Mac, are you using a proxy or anything else that might be blocking/filtering traffic?

Re: Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

no proxy, firewalls  (main, little snitch, hands off), nothing has changed in these regards with version 11 of mac - all worked fine.  11 was also working under Lion but my sub had ran out.  I have a fast internet connection and I have turned off all firewalls - the problems persists.  I have even downloads the last sigs and installed - same problems.  I have looked at the engine and the latest sigs are 10-26.

Have attached output from the Symantec Gathering process and more

My current sub shows fine and that I have 364 days left.  The sysmantecinfo is really a .zip file

Re: Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

Other error message I get from Liveupdate is

an error has occurred.  please try again.

an error has occurred

This is all get back .. keep trying is useless as you can imagine .. fully thing is I can put the same url in a browser and it works just fine ... this is not an internet connection issue.

Re: Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

I don't know what is causing the LU issues (we'll need to analyze your logs further), but if the defs you downloaded were via a standalone installer (called an Intelligent Updater), those are not compatible with NAV 12.  They shouldn't cause any problems, but they won't load either.  Is the folder containing the files in Henry.txt named "Engine", or something numeric, like "20111026.001"?  If it's the former, as I suspect, they are NAV 11 defs.

Re: Norton Antivirus for MAC 12

There is no scheduler in NAV 12/NIS 5.  LiveUpdate checks automatically every 2 hours for an update.
