I'd like to thank you and your team for the hard work you're doing to resolve the compatibility issues between your product and Snow Leopard. I also appreciate the responses you've provided on this thread. There are software companies that would just let end users eat static.
I do have two questions. Will customers have their subscriptions extended to cover the days when your products were unable to function because of the compatibility issues? Or perhaps they'll be eligible for discounted rates when it is time to renew expiring subscriptions?
Please do understand that I am in a bit of a jam. I talked up your product to a first-time Mac buyer. While I've explained that these things happen, I'm worried that I'm going to have to return the honorarium [a case of caffeinated beverages] I've received for helping with the research and set up of a brand new Mac Book Pro.

Hi,
I would also like to thank the Norton team for the hard work they are doing to get NIS 4.0 for mac to be compatible with Snow Leopard.
I believe that Apple may not have given the team enough time to get their product ready for Snow Leopard.
Hopefully this will be resolved.
Is it possible to let us know how things are progressing?

I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and it was delivered with Snow Leopard already installed. I have used Norton AntiVirus for over 10 years so I paid the upgrade price from my old v10 only to find it is incompatible. I am now in the situation where I have no virus protection and the clock on my paid subscription is ticking down.
I contacted Norton Technical Support by email but cannot get any satisfactory answer at all.

Symantec is PATHETIC! It's been 2 weeks and no update, they REFUSE to say a word to every SL user. They think that being quiet will calm everyone, but It's just makes it worse.
Get the update out or tells us EXACTLY WHEN it will be release....
This "soon" your tech people keep telling everyone has been going on for a week!
Enough!

I'm just going to note that Trend Micro also still does not support Snow Leopard, and they are saying that they plan to come out with an update some time in October. So, I certainly hope that Symantec plans to come out before then. I am a Trend Micro user that is thinking about making the switch to Norton, so I guess I'll see who supports Snow Leopard first.
By the way, on a good note for Norton. When I first found out that Trend Micro didn't support Snow Leopard, I went to Trend Micro's home page to find out more. Nothing. So I used the "online chat" tool. The guy told me he couldn't help me. So I called them. It took me two days and five phone calls (waiting on hold for more than 2 hours collectively..) to find out that even the "mac specialists" didn't know any answers whatsoever. So, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software (the best solution the "techie" could give me) and was promptly brought to a page stating that "Trend Micro doesn't support Snow Leopard," and that an "updated release is scheduled to come out sometime in October."
So my point is, at least Symantec saw fit to put some kind of information on their website. Now if only we could get a time frame....

This was posted by Mike Romo 10 days ago and I think clearly states the current position:-
1 - we don't get the real version of Mac OS X 10.6 until you do. I think if you take a look around, you will see that we are not the only security provider trying to revamp our software for 10.6. (Yes, we get the seeds, but there have been changes between the last build and the release build in the past.)
2 - No one is forcing you to update to Mac OS X 10.6. Indeed, many of the reviews suggest waiting until vendors can update their products for full compatibility. I think it's fair to say that your frustrations are a standard part of being a Mac OS X early adoptor.
3 - You will see a fix as quickly as we can make it.
4 - You comparisons to other software products are unfair. We do far more than any of those products do.
