Thanks for this information. What version of Safari do you have installed? Please select About… from the Safari menu and report the version/build number of Safari.
We haven't seen this before, but I'll try and reproduce it. I'm curious what's "special" about your machine.
Thanks,
Ryan

It looks like Firefox doesn't get the same error messages as Safari. Does Firefox have the toolbar and does it seem to work?
If the error does not occur with Firefox, and you get a toolbar while using Firefox, then the problem would seem to be something about Safari, which would be welcome news because it would mean there's something to debug at least.
Also, do you have Safari set to run in Rosetta? Rosetta is an emulation environment to run PowerPC code on an Intel computer. To check, select Safari in the Finder, and select "Get Info" from the File menu. A new window will open in the Finder. There should be an option called "Open in Rosetta". If this option is checked, that could definitely be the cause of the problem. It's worth checking at least, even if it's a shot in the dark.
Thanks.

I will try to reproduce the problem by migrating from NAV 11, NCO 1.1 and then NIS. It definitely sounds like it could be significant. I'll let you know if I discover anything.
Thanks,
Ryan

One thing to try while I prepare my machine to do this testing--could you please do the following:
Please copy the following:
/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SymSharedSettings.frame
Open the Terminal application, then paste this command into Terminal, and let me know what it says.
Also, please open the following the path in Finder (you can copy it and then choose Go to Folder... from the Finder's "Go" menu).
/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SymSharedSettings.frame
Then choose "Get Info" from the Finder. When the new window opens, please look for the "Version" field. Copy & paste this information here. This might tell us if an install problem occured.
Thanks,
Ryan

From Terminal:
Macintosh-5:~ JRsr$ /Library/PrivateFrameworks/SymSharedSettings.frame
SymSharedSettingsd, © 2008 Symantec Corporation
Version # 1.2f57 (12/11/08 14:41:37)

Bummer. Your versions check out OK, and I was unable to reproduce this by upgrading from NAV 11 -> NCO 1.1 -> NIS 4. I'll give this more thought tomorrow and try to get back to you.
Sorry for the problems. I really hate to use this suggestion since the engineer in me wants to figure out the cause of these problems, you can try uninstalling the product and re-installing. If you don't want to uninstall, that's fine--I'll work with you to figure out the issue. But if you'd rather just get it over with and don't mind uninstalling I reluctantly suggest that.
Thanks,
Ryan
