While trying to find a vaild backup to use to restore a drive a pane opened up and said that the backup had been made while under heavy activity but should restore correctly.
My question is why should there be 'heavy activity' on my system at 0200 when there should not be any other programs running? Windows updates at a different time and the only program that I can guess might be doing something would be NIS scanning while the system is idle.
Better guesses or factual answerswould be appreciated

A virus scan would be my guess. If you have kids on summer vacation like me, maybe they were on your PC at 2:00AM.
Got the kids but they are all 'adults' now and living away from home an empty nest can be a joy at times but there are times when it does feel very empty

Thank you for that answer. I'm guessing that it's about time to uninstall and reinstall Ghost? Or is there a better way / different way to resolve that problem?

I don't know if that would help Dick.
I have seen the problem on 2 systems and it really had notning to do with Ghost, it was a problem with the volume shadow copy with Windows. Ghost adds it's own VSS provider but it still needs volume shadow copy working properly.
I had to rebuild the COM+ catalog and a few other things I can't recall off the top of my head. But I was dealing with XP, not windows 7. In XP it's real easy to diagnose, you can run the MS backup tool as a test and view the detailed report and it tells you right off the bat if volume shadow copy is working or not.
I don't think the backup in windows 7 will show you that.
Have you looked in the event log when Ghost is doing a backup and do you see errors for volume shadow copy?

Have not looked at the logs. I'll have to check that when the system/computer is operational again. Right now I'm working on getting access to the various drives on my system. A must have picked up a bug which did enough damage to make them all about as useful as landfill hockey pucks. I'm guessing that it will be at least a few more days before I see if the light is the end or another train.
Thanks for the answers

Sorry to hear about that Dick.
I should mention that I had no problems recovering an image when I got that error, although I didn't like the error one bit.
I got real busy at work here but when I get some free time I will look for something that may help you.
There is a COM+ fix in one of the Norton KB articles that may help and if I get a chance I have win7 64bit on my test system that I can play around with.

I have got this error message lot of time, even when my computer is with minimum load, but had no problems recovering an image, it is always a frustration to have an error even if it do not have an effect but you are always worry.
