Does anyone know what awaiting backup agent means? I searched the help file but found nothing. Is it backing up during this message or is it not connecting?

As far as I know the "agent" is the Ghost service and I doubt it could be doing a backup at that point.

Its been idling in this mode for 3 hours now and it failed on backup completely last night.
Rather disappointed in the product.

Don't be dissapointed yet, we'll tell you when you can get disapointed.
Seriously, Ghost works fine for several million people.
Why not give everyone a chance to help, tell us what version of Ghost and windows your using and any other info you think would apply.

Norton Online Backup 25 gig. No Ghost involved.
Widows Vista Premium.
I am very disappointed that I do not know what "awaiting agent backup" is. Simple question but no answer.

Been told to re-install even though it is currently uploading. If re-install doesn't wok I have to use live chat (what's wrong with email?).
They still haven't told me what "awaiting backup agent" means. Asked again so hopefully the reply is coming.

Got the reply email again but they refuse to state what it means or what it is going on. Why? Is it not able to connect with their server? Is there a problem on my computer. Nearly every one who has posted here has been told to re-install as the only answer. Why re-install a product that is only a week old when you haven't even investigated the problem?

Same here. The laptop backed up just fine. The desktop can't get past "awaiting agent backup". Actually, after a few attempts, it started to backup last night, got through about 18%, then quit backing up. This morning, nothing but this message. Very frustrating. Did you ever find an answer? How do you get this product to work?

Hello,
The awaiting agent backup message is basically the web interface awaiting communication between the Norton Online Backup servers and the computer agent. If its still awaiting backup it may mean that computer is offline or there is a possible connectivity issue.
I would advise against uninstalling and reinstalling though since that will break your connection to prior backups. If that is not a concern use the remove computer option and set it up again.Otherwise you can install over an existing installation by going to add computer.
The easiest way to see if it is a PC issue is first make sure the pc in question has been restarted recently. Try starting the backup from the agent installed on the computer instead of the web interface. If its still not connecting then try the reinstall option.
If you prefer to talk with an agent let me know via the address I'll send to you via PM.
