I am having this error in NG 14.0.3.28361 on a laptop with Windows Vista.
It happens when I try to create a custom recovery disk. Just after being asked about the location Recovery Disk, "Comparing drivers" starts and a few seconds later this error appears:(it happens before asking for a blank disk)
Error EC950008. Could not extract controller into C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\........\MinedDrivers
The permissions in the temp folder are ok and i have no Daemons tools nor Alcohol software installed.
The Driver Validation option in the SRD menu gathers this info:
The following devices do not have drivers in the Symantec Recovery Disk.
Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100
WAN Miniport (SSTP)
A detailed information about these devices is given below

As I read in some posts, I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling NG without running live update, but I still get the same error.
The steps described in http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/powerquest.ns
Any idea on how to solve this??

"Could not find writable media" happend to me and it happened because I did not wait long enough to let the computer recognize the new CD. Its wierd but with this program it made the difference. You need to put the cd in, let your computer go through its stages of loading the new CD and when the CD drive quits making noises, click ok.
