Hi Brian

THis is th esetup of my other PC see here my thoughs here are use BIBM to shrink C: drive to 200gb. Then copy over my Norton backup from my maindesktop to the other partition I could create on space I make on the C: drive.

I then boot into the PC whith Ghost CD and recover the backup and copy  over the current C: OS which is **bleep**ty Vista.

Is that the right way to do it ??

PS I have 2 folder from my onetime backup Norton Backups and VProRecovery do I need to copy both over ??

You will have to bring me up to speed again. Lots of threads and confusion.

You have Win7 on this computer. Why do you want to replace this Win7 with another Win7? Or do you want to keep this Win7 and just resize it to 200 GB?

Pc1 with new SSD has WIn 7 running fine

Pc2 has Vista  I am taking al my Hardware from PC1 and upgrading PC2

At the same times I want to use the backup from Pc1 and put it on PC 2 so I have Win 7 on Pc 2 (which currently has Vista.

I need an area on a HD  to put the backup on PC 2 so when I change the hardwear (not harddrive) and boot from Ghost I can install to PC 2 so I have Win 7 on that

My thought is I need to get the HD ready now before I replace MOB chip and Memeory. Please not the backup used to run with this setup on Pc 1

Dale, the screenshot from Message # 72, is that PC 2? Does it have Vista? The booting files are in the D: drive.

I'm confused. But wide awake.

Are you sure Brian ? It is message 71 :) and C drive has boot on it not D as this is only 37.27gb

The D: drive is 37 GB but it is System, Active, which means it contains the booting files. In Microsoft terminology the Boot partition does not necessarily contain the booting files. Easy isn't it?

Is the C: drive Vista?

Dale, you need to Show Protected Operating System Files (Folder Options, View tab). Then you will see the D: drive contains bootmgr and a Boot folder. The booting files.

You still haven't confirmed the OS is Vista. I sound like an interrogator.
