Could anyone help me to restore my recovery points via SRD?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have created Recovery points and booted to SRD . Then I chose one recovery point with the date.

Select a recovery point::

------------------------

------------------------

-----------------------

 After that, I have clicked 'next':

Select drive to recover:

Date:                                          Source                                                  Target                       file name

6 days ago 8/21/2012            C                                                 Disk 2                             Moh_HP_C_Drive_001_i001_iv2i

'' '' '' '' ''' ''' '''' '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''              D                                                Disk2                             Moh_HP_Drive_001_i001_iv2i

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''             HP tools                                    Disk1. HP_ tools          Moh_ HP_tools.HP-Dirve_001

As you see above that destination(target)  is Disk2, so I am quite afriad of it will resotre to my external hard disk, which is now source because all my recovery points I have created are in external disk (DISK2)

So, target above should have been "disk1" and not "disk2" because "disk1" is the internal disk which I want to restore  to it. However, disk2 is the external disk which is source of my recovery points

And what made me quite confiused is  in the list target you will see:

Source: C                            Target: disk2

Source: D                            Target: disk2

Source: HP tools               Target: Disk1.HP_tools

 So I am afraid of that my external hard disk will be overwritten because it is Disk 2

I hope you understand me

Hi,

I'm not sure I do understand. One of the first messages on the SRD is that the drive letters may/will change from those you are used to seeing while in the operating system.

I see that all of the available drives are listed. Have you selected one?

Keep us posted

Yes, as I said that I have chosen three drives listed at 'Soruce list'. However, as you see from what I have said before that in the Target of restoration is : Disk2, Disk2, Disk1. Why isTarget of restoration Disk2? Taget of all drives(partitions) selected should have been  Disk1

Could anyone please take some time to read my last post and reply me?

My external hard disk contains too much important data and my external hard disk is the source of recovery points created by Ghost. Thus, I cannot let it unconnected during restoration.

However, if  I have let it connected, I am afraid of that my data is overwritten because the target is disk2 as you see in the description I have said before.

Could you please reply me to close this issue? Or I would like to delete all the Norton Ghost images and then I will look for another backing up software which would be easy to use.

I have a registered Norton Ghost 15.

I would like to upload a screenshot, but I couldn't do that because I was on prompt command(DOS)

I have created Recovery points and booted to SRD . Then I chose one recovery point with the date.

This windows:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Select a recovery point::

HP_ tools          Moh_ HP_tools.HP-Dirve_001

As you see above that destination(target)  is Disk2, so I am quite afriad of it will resotre to my external hard disk, which is now source because all my recovery points I have created are saved in the external disk (DISK2)

I hope you understand me
