Hi all,

I purchased Ghost 15 earlier this week after successfully using an older version at my last firm. It said it was Win7 32 & 64 bit compatible.

I have a HP 1330 desktop PC, 64bit WIN7. I have built the machine and then I cold booted with the original ISO created Ghost disk CDROM. Booted into the Ghost interface and then created a W2i image file on an external 900GB Seagate hard disk.

I then purchased 2 new machines of the same model and am trying to restore the Image, so cold booted into the disk as above and then selected restore from file. Browsed to the external disk and selected the file but I am getting the below error:

"Please insert the recovery disk" "Press OK to continue or CANCEL to abort" when I click OK nothing happens when I click cancel, get "Error EA730002: cannot find the driver database directory".

I have searched the forum with others getting the same error "http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/quot-please-insert-the-recivery-disk-quot-when-..." but I still cannot get GHOST to work and am losing patience.

Can someone advise??

I've come to the conclusion that the Ghost 15 SRD sometimes uses the Restore Anywhere feature that is a component of Ghost 15's cousin, BESR 2010. This is a bug in Ghost, not WinPE. The missing files it is asking for are just that, missing. The BESR Recovery Disk has a bunch of drivers that the Ghost SRD does not. I know because I have seen one. The reason it wants the recovery disk reinserted is because the drivers it is looking for are outside of the WinPE environment which is loaded in memory. The workaround is to ask customer service or forum member Eric_Carlstrom for a link to the Ghost 14 SRD, which does not have this bug.

For what you are trying to do, Symantec's Ghost Suolution Suite is a better option. It is designed for deployment to other machines. Norton Ghost , which is a consumer product by the way, is meant for backing up and restoring to the same machine. Whatever mechanism Ghost (and BESR) uses to detect hardware changes is getting triggered. Maybe the different NIC card MAC address causes it.
