Getting scared about Norton Ghost 15

I'm getting very concerned about Norton's commitment to the Ghost product line for the following reasons.

- Ghost 15 is available on Amazon, however it's not available from the Norton store.  This seems very strange.

- No mention whatsoever on the Norton website of Ghost 15 being available. It's almost like they don't want people to know about it.

- Amazon is reporting it's compatiable with Win XP and Vista...  It doesn't say it will work with Windows 7.  This is a HUGE red flag.

This is giving me the impression that Ghost 15 isn't going to be a well supported product and may not even work with Windows 7.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on some backup software and unfortunatally Ghost is about to go to the bottom of the list.  Can anyone from Symantec change my mind?

Amazon have changed their minds twice so far. Symantec has always said November 2009 - no actual day just November. Personally I don't think they (Amazon) have stock. Symantec has always shipped new product before major outlets.

That's because it is not actually available yet

For the avoidance of any doubt - Ghost 15 is fully Win 7 compatible.

You have nothing whatever to worry about - be patient and you will get a Win 7 compatible, superbly supported, version of Ghost.

Just be a bit more patient and you will not regret it.

While in a support chat this week with Norton Tech with an unrelated issue with Norton Ghost 14.0 I ask the Rep about the availability of Ghost 15 and he said that it WILL be out this week but would not give me a specific day.

If you go to the Norton Update site and chose manually and then select Ghost.. you will see that it they have information for windows 7 users and they confirm that Ghost 15 WILL be compatiable with Windows 7.  Of course it will be though... its a major Operating system.

I to am looking forward to gettting back with Ghost so I can drop Acronis.  I would use Ghost 14 but since I have Windows 7.. I want a FULLY Functional software so I will wait and pay to upgrade.

Doesn't work like that.  NGhost isn't subscription based where you get a free upgrade if you have an active subscription.  This is not like N360 or NIS.  You won't get updates on the Norton Update site.

FWIW: The manual for Ghost 15 is available on the ftp server: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/ghost/15/manuals/ngh_15_user_guide.pdf

This is what I am talking about...

[edit: Resized image.]

You can select manual update and then Norton Ghost... Then it will have a message for Windows 7 users.

I am aware of the subscription update process.

Re: Getting scared about Norton Ghost 15

Great!  :)

But... still not in the UK :(

And the 'worldwide' site won't let me select UK as a country to place my order.

Seems I'd be fine in just about all of Europe... except England?

Any idea how long it'll be before the UK store catches up?

I tried to purchase the download but it won't let you delete the extended download service for 8.99.  I hope they fix this soon.

Re: Getting scared about Norton Ghost 15

I discovered a workaround if you don't want the extended download service.  First put another software download in the cart and then add Ghost.  You will then have the option to delete the extended download service and of course the other software.
