[Ghost 10] After 4 years get error that the trailversion has expired???

[ Edited ]

I just find out by Event Log Explorer, that since 17 september 2010 my installed Northon Ghost 10 stopped making images daily as planned.

These are the messages I get from Event Log Explorer since 17 september 2010:

- Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error creating the Shadow Copy Provider COM class with CLSID {65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a} [0x80070422].

- Description: Error EC8F1C25: Your trial version of Norton Ghost has expired. Visit our website if your system more secure.
Details: Operation aborted

I bought Ghost 10 in 2006. After installed and using it since 2006, I never encountered any problems. I'm a registered user of Ghost 10. So I'm very suprised I get the error that the trailversion has expired??? (I have a CD with the productkey)

I'm using XP Pro SP3 and Ghost 10 is the only Symantec Product I have installed.

The only answer I get (so far)

"I would recommend that you upgrade to Norton Ghost v15" (nice sales talk, but no solution)

Or better said if your car broke tomorrow, buy a new one.

So hopefully I will get help from somebody who encountered this problem also and know me to explain a solution (Thanx in advance)

chocka,

Assuming uninstall/reinstall has failed, can you restore your system from an image taken prior to 17 Sept? It is usually the easiest way to resolve these bizarre errors. After all, that's what Ghost is for. Restoring your system to a time when everything was working.

Of course, that was my first thought to put back the files of Ghost of 17 september. But Ghost did nothing at all.

I tried to register again, but that also didnot work. I hoped to find a simple solution.

Finally, I just uninstalled Ghost with Revo Uninstaller. Cleaned my system and register to all what was anmed by Norton or Symantec. Fingerscrossed to reboot and installed Ghost 10 as new.

Hopefully this solved my problem?! With having to buy an upgrade!!!

Last question: Is it needed that ccApp and Norton Ghost 10.0 are in the startlist or can I delete from starting with Windows?
