Ghost 14 backup boot disk

On a dual-boot system with XP/SP3 as the default boot from drive E: I can run Ghost 14 and backup the computer fine while still using XP.  But on a dual-boot system with Vista/SP1 as the default boot from drive E: when I try to run Ghost to backup the computer it tells me I can only do it in recovery mode.  Why can't I backup Vista while using it when I can do that with XP?

Re: Ghost 14 backup boot disk

Unfortunately, Ghost 14 does not support dual-boot systems. However, it seems that the problem might be resolved by following the directions in the below document:

Please let me know if the document helps resolve the problem. Thanks!

Re: Ghost 14 backup boot disk

That document did help me get it working but it has a some problems.  In a couple of places in step 2 it says if whatever is being checked isn't there then go to step 2; should be go to step 3.  I didn't have the service installed so I went to step 3 and downloaded and ran the registry file.  That installed the service but it wouldn't start because the registry file assumed I'd installed to the default location, which I hadn't.  Since the file/path in the .reg file isn't in 'readable' format, I used regedit to edit the path to where the service was installed and after that it would start and I was able to backup the boot partition while in Vista.  Thanks!
