Ghost 14 error 6C8F1C25: Cannot add protection. Cannot retrieve list of drives

I am running Ghost 14, ver. 14.0.4.30167 and encountered this error while setting up a file and folder backup.  Removing Ghost, rebooting and then re-installing it, including the latest update as of 22 Feb 09, did not resolve the issue, nor did an online chat with tech support.  Further experimentation resulted in the following:

1.  Setting up a new backup to set a system restore point (for an entire drive) was successful and did not result in the error msg.

2.  The error occurs if the three default folders are unchecked while adding a new folder during the job setup process.

3.  The error does not occur if the three default folders are left as checked during the job setup process and a new folder was added.   The three default folders could be successfully deleted later by returning to the backup job after it was fully set up (shown in the task list) and altering the settings (Run or Manage Backups, Edit Settings).

I hope this workaround will be of assistance to anyone encountering the issue.   To the best of my recollection, unchecking the three default folders while setting up a folder backup job did not result in an error prior to the initial incident on 21 Feb.

Hi there, I just ran into this problem, could you give me some specifics on how you fixed your problem? Which folders are you talking about?

After you select "Back up selected files and folders" in the Define Backup Wizard you get the screen "Select Files and Folders to Back Up":

Leave the three items checked and proceed to add whatever files and/or folders you want to back up, then proceed through the rest of the wizard to define the backup job and click "Finish".  After the job is set up you can highlight it and use the "Edit Settings" function to delete the three items. This worked for me.  I hope it works for you.

Thanks Spud but I have had no luck, I chatted with a tech who said it was an issue under research and I would get a call soon but I havent yet. I might call them instead.
