Ghost 15.0 restart on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine

I'm having an intermittent problem with Norton Ghost 15.0 on my windows 7 64 bit machine.  About once a week during the verify process my machine with reboot and the verify doesn't complete.  The drivers on my machine are all current and this only happens with Norton Ghost.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Spontaneous reboots are most commonly caused by the system getting to hot.

Creating and verifying images is a very CPU intensive task that can cause a system to overheat if it has problems with the cooling. (bad fans, dirty heat sinks, blocked vents, etc).

See if your system comes with a tool you can use to monitor the temps and then put the system through some cpu intensive tasks.  Full virus scans and compressing very large files are other ways to put the system under a high load while checking your temps.

Dave,

I have SpeedFan on my machine.  I started SpeedFan and then ran a disk image backup with a verify and monitored the machines temperatures.  The GPU was a little hot at 50C and HD0 was running at 44C during the backup process.  The processors ran at about 38C.

The system temperatures aren't the problem from what I can tell.   Does anyone else have any suggestions as to why the machine restarts during a backup image process?

If during the verify, it is hitting a bad sector, it is possible the the system is BSOD and rebooting too quickly too notice. You can set the system to not reboot immediately after a BSOD. Right Click on “My Computer” and go to “Properties”. Then go to the “Advanced” tab and under the headline “Startup and Recovery”, press the “Settings” button. Untick the “Automatically Restart” box and press Ok.
