Ghost 15 Agent Install Issue

Running XP SP3

I have a full install of Ghost 15 on my 'main' computer - works fine.  Now trying to install agent on one of my LAN PC's.  When I choose to deploy agent to the client PC, I get an RPC Server unavailable error.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Re: Ghost 15 Agent Install Issue

You can manually install the Agent by running the setup on the second computer and chosing a custom install.

The "agent" is called the "GhostService". Select the GhostService to be installed and unselect everything else.

It's mentioned on page 104-105 of the manual.

However, unless I missed something when I tried it, I saw no advantage of installing just the agent rather than the whole program. But it's been a long time since I tried it.

I never could get one computer to control Ghost on the other.

I couldn't either. LOL

But it might have been my setup.  But if Ghost could connect to an agent on another system, couldn't it also connect to a full version of Ghost?

I don't have Ghost installed at the moment, but isn't the option to connect to an agent also able to connect to another Ghost?

If I remember correctly, thats why I gave up.  I figured since the agent takes another full license I might as well install the full version of Ghost if I ever needed to use it on another networked system.

I gave up mainly because it takes too long to backup over my (wireless) network. Now I just plug a portable USB drive into the two computers and run Ghost from the PC.
