I had to reinstall Ghost 15 therefore the previous recovery points/sets I had over the prior weeks are no longer listed in the backup history. The recover points/sets still exist on a network share and I would like to get these into the Norton so I will be able to:
- recover files from those recovery points/sets
- have Norton remove older recovery points/sets as defined in my backup job (if possible)
I understand this can be done with the "recover my files" but I am not backing up with that option.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi dbjockMan,
Welcome to the Norton Community.
I assume you are referring to image backups (done via Backup My Computer), correct?
These are backup images which have a filename ending in .v2i for Base backups and .iv2i for incremental backups.
There is no facility in Ghost for importing image backups back into Ghost backup history. That feature has been requested to Symantec but there is no facility currently there for doing this.
However, your backup images are fully and 100% usable even though they are not in the backup history. You can still mount the images via Windows Explorer to restore or browse individual files comprising that backup image.
More importantly you can still load these backup images (recovery points) into Ghost through Tools > Run Recovery Point Browser. You can verify the images through the recovery point browser as well to satisfy yourself they are sound.
You can also load and use these backups from your Ghost recovery CD to recover your hard drive.
They are 100% usable, they just won't appear in the backup history.
Hope this helps.
Allen
