Ghost 15, two problems: Clone drive can't boot, Data partition diapeared!
So first use of Ghost 15, tried to clone the C: drive to a new drive, worked but not bootable, which I figured as I got an error the first time I tried it, something like 'set drive active is not campatable with this version' which I couldn't figure out, so I left it unchecked and wouldn't you know, it's not bootable. I've got to work around this, I think I'll have to use the windows start disk and repair. BUT that is not the main problem.
My D: Data drive disappeared. It is not a seperate physical drive, it is a partition of Disk 1 (same disk as C: which is probably why Ghost screwed it up.
My intention is to use the 160 GB drive (currently F:) as the boot drive and use the two 2TB drives for a Raid 0 (Or whatever one is just a duplicate, each drive with the same information).
So How do I get my D: drive back and how do I set up the RAID when I am done? I built this computer myself so i have some knowledge of how to do this but I guess just enough to get in trouble!
Thanks for your time.
My system:
Core i5
8 gigs RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Three hard drives (all formatted GUID for some reason, it just sounded interesting, I guess):
Drive 0: 160GB WD One partition. Configured as F: (cloned from C: to be the future C:)
Drive 1: 2TB WD Two partitions. C: (boot) and D: (data)
Drive 2: 2TB WD currently unused.

Russell,
Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management?
Did you Copy Drive into a partition on the new HD?
Did you try to boot the new HD with the old HD still connected?

Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management?
(see below)
Did you Copy Drive into a partition on the new HD?
Yes, the C: partition (46.69 GB) was copied onto the F: (148.92 GB) successfully except that it won't boot from this drive.
Did you try to boot the new HD with the old HD still connected?
Yes. It didn't work. I then disconnected the old (2 TB) drive and it still didn't work. So I reconnected everything the way it was and then noticed the D: drive was gone (ACTUALLY the 838.19 GB partition is still there, just shown as empty and no drive letter).
I think I should assign a drive letter to the former D: partition but am afraid to loose my data permanently.

UnknownIdaho,
Yes, just right click the 838 MB rectangle in Disk Management and assign the D: drive letter to that partition. No big deal. You won't lose data.
As far as Copy Drive is concerned you broke the two big no-nos. You copied into a partition instead of into unallocated space and you didn't disconnect the old HD before the first boot from the new HD. Either of these will cause a non load into the OS.
Disconnect the old HD and try to boot the new HD. It won't load into Windows but I want you to tell me what happens.

Below is what I get when I try to assign a drive letter to my former D: drive, everything but 'delete' is greyed out. I haven't tried rebooting without C: yet, will do it tomorrow....
Thanks for all your help so far and your quick responses!

Russell,
I can't help you. I haven't used a GPT disk as a boot disk. Only as a data disk.
Anyone?

Russell,
Try the section commencing with...
Assigning and Changing Drive Letters and Mount Points from the Command Line

I am going to try and re-format the 160 GB drive using the MBR type and see what happens.... (There is nothing valuable on this drive, just the clone of C: that won't boot. I will read that article too, maybe I should read it first....
Thanks again,

Russell,
Before you format the 160 GB HD can you try to boot from it. I'm interested to hear what happens.
I have other ideas about assigning the D: drive letter if you have trouble with Diskpart.

When trying to boot from clone dirive F: all I get is 'boot disk failure insert boot disk'.
