I cannot use System Restore after using Norton Power Eraser

On 8/3/12, I received a message that said, "Error: "3048,3".

I was told to download and use Norton Power Eraser Beta.

After a while, Windows shut down because of the following events:

"8/10/2012 12:41:14 AM sr Error None 1 N/A SCOTTSROOM The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000243' while processing the file 'EraserUtilRebootDrv.sys' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume1'.  It has stopped monitoring the volume."

Events are copy/pasted fom Event viewer. Any advice on how to proceed from here would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Also, I forgot to add, I am running Windows XP Service pack 3 on an older Gateway Computer.

Re: I cannot use System Restore after using Norton Power Eraser

I was able to use System Restore after reading the article.

I will see how stable my computer is after the change.

Funny thing though - my Norton tray icon has a red X even though the program display says I am secure.

What is up with that?

Re: I cannot use System Restore after using Norton Power Eraser

Everything seems normal, so I'm labeling this problem solved.

Thanks for the free help. I was worried that I would have had to spend the weekend with a Windows boot disk and a copy of "Troubleshooting and Maintaining Your PC for Dummies" in order to fix things up. I'm glad that didn't happen.
