Internet Screwed up after installing NAV2008

I am writing this on the behalf of my friend.

He just bought NAV2008 3 days ago and installed it into his computer.

However, after installation, He is unable to access both IE and Firefox

At first I thought all I had to do was to modify the Internet Worm Protection Program Rules by setting the access to allow

But when I went to his place and tried, an error message appears when I tried to change the settings saying something about another Norton products running and for us to close it before continuing.

My friend does not have any Norton products installed in his comp besides the NAV2008 he bought.

Even aftering uninstalling NAV2008, He was still unable to access the internet.

What can be done to solve this problem?

Thanks!

Re: Internet Screwed up after installing NAV2008

I apologize; I'd just like a bit of clarification. What exactly do you mean when you write that your friend is unable to access Internet Explorer and Firefox?  Will the products not launch when clicking their links or accessing through the Start Menu? Will the product launch, but your friend is unable to connect to the internet with the browsers? Also, if you can get the exact error message that is received, that would be helpful. Additionally, it would be good to get the operating system and service pack as well. If you can also get the exact version of Norton AntiVirus 2008, that too would be helpful. A free update to Norton AntiVirus 2008 has been released, which your friend might wish to install. Thanks!

Re: Internet Screwed up after installing NAV2008

Please see the post I just made under the 360 forum regarding the network driver "Symantec Network Security Intermediate Filter Driver". I uninstalled it and was then able to connect. I use Firefox also but this is not relevant since all traffic out was being blocked somehow by the driver. I am now trying to find out what I may have sacrificed by getting rid of it. I could have simply unchecked the driver and rebooted but i was so pissed it was there without any explanations so I turfed it.
