Keyboard & mouse won't work booting w/Norton Recovery Disk for Ghost 15

[ Edited ]

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with a 128 gig SSD drive. I was able to create a backup of the C drive (SSD). I tested to see if I could restore and after booting with the Recovery disc my keyboard and mouse won't work.

I have two items that came up on the driver compatability test:

Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller

WAN Miniport (IKEv2)

I'm not sure if either affect the keyboard or mouse drivers and I've looked for them online but can't find ones for downloading. I presume I need 32 bit versions.

Any help getting my keyboard and/or mouse to work for a boot disc restore? Thanks!

How is the keyboard / mouse connected? Make sure they are connected directly to the motherboard, not a hub. Windows PE provides drivers for mouse and keyboard so they should work as is.

Keyboard is connected directly. Mouse is USB.

I wouldn't think that either of those would prevent the mouse / keyboard from working. Can you try moving the keyboard to a different USB port? What motherboard do you have?

Your download page is here... http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3910#dl

My guess is that you need this file... http://download.gigabyte.ru/driver/mb_driver_marvell_bootdisk_vista7.exe

Then use 7-Zip to copy the files from mb_driver_marvell_bootdisk_vista7.exe\storport\i386\ to a place that you can access from the SRD or incorporate into a Custom SRD.

As far as not being able to use the keyboard / mouse. Can you use them if you boot the WIndows DVD?

Re: Keyboard & mouse won't work booting w/Norton Recovery Disk for Ghost 15

First, thank you so much for responding to my problem! It's greatly appreciated. I'm fairly computer literate (I just built the system I'm deal with on this!) but I don't have all the answers. I did have a "duh" moment when I went to the Gigabyte page you sent. I should have thought to go there for any drivers! That said, should I be using a 64 or 32 bit driver for the bootdisk, since I'm running a 64 bit system? I haven't tried booting from the Windows DVD, but will try tonight. One note however, after booting from the Ghost disk and Windows loads it's drivers, there is one screen that comes up before the Ghost screen with choices for backup and restore that prompts a keyboard response. The keyboard works for that, but not after it gets into the Ghost menu. Lastly, the keyboard is connected via a ps/2 not USB, so I'll also try plugging it into a USB port on the motherboard. It's not the end of the world not to have mouse functionality with the keyboard if I can't get the mouse to work.

The Ghost SRD is based on WindowsPE 2.1 (Vista) 32-bit. So, you need 32-bit drivers that are compatible with Windows Vista.

Regarding the mouse, it's a Logitech wireless which connects through a Logitech USB hub. After building my new system, I didn't load any Logitech drivers or software as the mouse works without. Do you think loaded the Logitech software might enable the mouse to work with Ghost? I typically don't add software that isn't otherwise needed.

Hi,

I would try that. If it makes a difference, you need to keep it. If not, you can uninstall it almost as quickly as you installed it. :smileywink:
