I'm running 64bit Vista Enterprise....I've been having many issues with NG14 working with GEAR drivers....here's a synposis:
--did have correct gear drivers and ghost was fine
--restarted one day and my driver was unsigned...
(Many days pass getting back the signed driver)
--I wanted to do a ghost backup...but the agent couldn't connect
--Reinstalled Ghost
--After I reinstalled, I still had the correct drivers....then I ran LiveUpdate to update ghost, restart, my driver was gone and I can't see the device as shown:
I was running the signed driver before and liveupdate basically replaced the driver and removed the device.
My DVD-drive is slot loading...so the Norton CD is stuck in there and I can't get it out because of this issue.
Downloading/Executing the GEAR driver installer did not work. No changes to the driver were made
I think Norton needs to release a new update to Ghost....
What can I do?:
--uninstall ghost...reinstall and don't update??...
--wait for norton to release a new update for ghost...

sfcanon,
Does this help?

I followed the instructions and made a comment that the search is case sensitive....so it should be GEARAspiWDM
I'm able to see my drive now. But the GEAR driver is gone.
Re-running the GEAR installer did not add the driver...

i don't know if this helps...but after running CCleaner is points to a missing shared .dll:
I'm not entirely sure how to 'replace' or add the .dll to my system...

Well I found the .dll
but it seems like the 64-bit one in the 32bitSystem folder.....and the 32-bit one is in the 64bitSystem folder, as shown:

well your not going to believe what just happend.....I decided that since Itunes and Symantec use the same GEAR software....
why not try "Repairing" Itunes.....i ran the 64bit Itunes installer and selected repair...and look what happened:

I have another question now....
--It seems if I define one of backup to an external hard drive....
--then I start GHOST without having that external hard drive connected.
I get put into this loop:
So does this mean I would never be able to manage anything in ghost without having my drive connected? That seems very very unfortunate.

well this story doesn't seem to end....
I decided to disconnect my external hard drive...while in the GHOST manager...it complained and i closed.
I re-opened ghost again and everything started fine...and of course it noticed my backup device wasn't connected...
here's my window:
and here's the last event in the ghost log:
