I have now seen this problem many times over. As I run 9 PCs I sample lot of experience with products....
This seems to happen often with Norton Utilites 15 Version 15.0.0.122 in my case).
You run the smart update and you get a message saying something like "There is a problem with your subscription please contact support" and then next time you start the application it asks you to activate it.
And then you start a road of pain as if you are lucky it activates. If not it does not and you start with chatting with a support rep and several tries etc... eventually it activates. Also it may or may not activate if you try later.
Overall it seems quite prone to disactivations (sometimes just by itself as I run a weekly scheduled check an repair see this sometimes that it disactivated itself and wants you to activate it again) and re-activation is iffy.
Hope that Symantec can fix this problem as running this utility on several computers and having this constant annoyance is well annoying.

Hi,
do you use the same product key for NU15 on all of the 9 machines? If yes, than this will cause your issue.

Ok, I just had to ask it first :P :D :D.
Can you please tell us on which Windows OS and Service Pack do you notice these errors? Also is there any other Norton product on those machine(s)?
And are these machines always the same, or do they differ all the times? If the same ones, is there any program on these that the others do not have?
Thanks!

he he sure no problemo.
all machnes Windows 7 HP with SP (some 32 some 64bit) except two with XP Pro SP3
All machines have NIS (2012 since a few days) and Ghost 15.
Well they are the same machines in my home pool. Hope I understood this question correctly.
And basically all have similar setup. And the problem happens on all of them.
Symantec is informad had a LONG chat and look in the machines session with two support reps and the last then escalated to his manager and should her from them... or so I hope.

Do you run Smart Update manually? Or does it start sometimes automatically?

Manually.
Could also be that some of the other losses of activation were due to automatic live update but cannot say for sure.

As I know Smart Update can only be run manually.
And does this issue always happens when you run Smart Update, or is totally random?
