Norton ConnectSafe - not necessary with NIS 2012?

If I am using NIS 2012, are all the ConnectSafe protections (for security - malware and phishing sites) already included so that ConnectSafe is not needed?

Thanks

Hi Vincenzo

Using the Norton DNS will not replace the complete protection given by the Norton Security softwares, instead it provides an additional layer of protection to your Computer.

So are you saying that there may be some dangerous sites that NIS would allow, but that Norton DNS would block?

Thanks

Re: Norton ConnectSafe - not necessary with NIS 2012?

I mentioned the usage of NortonDNS gives you additional layer of protection. The DNS server is the one which resolves IP address to Website name. If you're using a Browser which is not supported by the Norton Toolbar, then the Norton safeweb cannot protect you in that situation. In that situation Norton DNS comes into play. Because, DNS queries routed through Norton DNS are checked with the Norton Safe Web database to ensure that they do not point to malicious websites. In some rare instances like NIS encountering problems or if you need to reinstall NIS the Norton DNS protection can come handy to protect your PC from malicious domains/websites.

So do NIS and Norton DNS both use the same database for checking websites?

Yes Both the Security Products and the Norton Dns detects the website nature based on the safeweb Database.
