Norton Ghost 14 Local & offsite Multiple backups recovery issue

Hi I am using Norton ghost 14. I backup to a 2nd hard drive with limited space (enough for a full backup with a few increments), and use the "copy to offsite function" to a Seagate External HD.

After several increments I have deleted the local 2nd hard drive backup, leaving the offsite copy as a spare earlier dated (previous) backup. I have tried to recover my HD using another PC and the external Seagate. When I tried to recover my Hard Drive from the Seagate offsite copy it tells me it cannot validate the recovery point from the Offsite copy.

What am i doing wrong and how do I recover from that earlier offsite copy.

Norton Ghost 14 Cannot Validate recovery point

2nd attempt - No replies to first attempt.

Hi

I am new to this forum and trying desperately to find a solution. i have searched the threads and can't find a previous post with a similar problem.

I am using XP with Norton Ghost 14.

If you can help I would be very grateful

Thanks

DesH

Re: Norton Ghost 14 Cannot Validate recovery point

Hi DesH,

Welcome to the forum. Were you using the offsite copy which is configured as part of the backup job itself or manually copying recovery points to your external drive or what?

Also what does it mean when you say "After several increments I have deleted the local 2nd hard drive backup, leaving the offsite copy as a spare earlier dated (previous) backup."

Can you expand a bit on the above? Do you have the backup image in question on both your primary backup drive and this external drive? Also, in your backup job did you configure it to do automatic verification and if so did this backup image verify successfully at time of backup?

What exactly are you doing to load the recovery point? What is the filename of the recovery point you are trying to verify? Are you loading this from the recovery CD or from the Ghost interface in Windows?

Thanks

Allen
